Once more, only 10 releases >10k admissions … summer = BO drought. Family releases were suffering under the weather while Deadpool held better than I expected; 3mil total are not impossible (but difficult to reach). Longlegs was doing ok for its semi-wide release but the PTA is not satisfying.

In Austria, a very similar chart once more (with the exception of Zwei zu Eins, of course). Horrible numbers.

Next weekend: Two wide openers - Alien: Romulus and It Ends With us. Both should see some success but I have to say that, at least at my cinema, Romulus' presales are abnormally low. What has become of this franchise?! It Ends With Us otoh has strong presales but on fewer shows … let's hope the best for both of them, the BO is in need of addidional hits as holdovers are running out of steam.

presales were high at my cinema but this OW for It Ends With Us is still exceeding my expectations. And after the very low presales, even Alien:Romulus's number is doing better than I expected. Plus increases among family fare - really fine weekend, nice!

Excellent weekend with 5 releases >100k and fine holds despite two wide openers. It Ends With Us was surprisingly strong (but seems a bit frontloaded, still, 1mil total should be easy from here) while Romulus disappointed (while avoiding a complete flop). Family releases were pushed by rainy weather, very nice results! And Deadpool & Wolverine is holding much better than recent MCU movies, 3mil+ are looking better and better. The re-release of Coraline had an excellent PTA.

In Austria, a very similar chart once more, everything just a few percent higher.

Next weekend: Borderlands should be the biggest opener; there seems to be quite a lot of marketing so while reviews have been reserved (to put it politely) it might see some success on its OW. (Presales are low, though, Top5 seems very difficult)

Steep drops and weak openers (Horizon had the best PTA among them) - after a strong weekend, a mediocre one. It Ends With Us seemed frontloaded at first but had the best hold in the end - nice surprise!

In Austria, a very similar chart once more, but as usual many totals are pulling ahead compared to Germany - It Ends With Us was at 109k after Sunday, D&W at 352k (it should manage 3mil in Germany, too, but here we will get to 400k), DM4 at 422k and IO2 at 585k (Platinum Ticket, here we come).

Next weekend: Once more, no really big opener in sight among "normal" releases; however, the latest Detective Conan anime might become a small scale hit; those anime events have been building their audience for some time now and at least at my cinema it has more presales than the other openers - I doubt that it'll be enough for the Top3 though.

BO back to sad weekends in Germany … none of the openers made any splash (ok, the anime had a strong Wednesday) and overall drops despite coming from an already deflated weekend. It Ends with Us crossed 1mil total, ok.

In Austria, we had a different chart this weekend: DM4 led the pack with a healthy increase and >15 admissions (3day) in front of D&W while It Ends was only #3 (but still nearly 14k admissions and nearly 150k total). DM4 should reach 500k in the end and IO2 was only 1501 admissions away from the Platimum Ticket's 600k after Sunday, so should be there by now - congratulations, a big success!

Next weekend: No big openers … a shark movie (a bit late for summer, no?), a domestic comedy, plus french comedy Un p’tit truc en plus - so, at least something for everyone, but no recovery for the ailing BO, I fear.
