No, blue sky and warm. But the Kinofest with reduced ticket prices helps a lot (as always). 

 

But it's the same as last year. This festival happens one week too soon. Starting Monday it's predicted to be rainy and way colder here - including next weekend.

at this point 1.5 million admissions for IEWU in Germany is pretty locked, right?

 

can it go for USD 20 million box office in Germany?

USD 20 million is probably a bit of a stretch but not impossible. 

It had 210k admissions this weekend and including Sunday 1.3M total admissions so yes, I also think that it reaches the 1.5M admissions mark.

Thanks to movie-friendly weather but especially the low-ticket-price Kinofest, sales went up across the chart (family movies with the best increases); five releases >100k are a lifesign for the Germany BO. Sadly, french superhit Un p’tit truc en plus got a bit lost, seeing how well some of those comedies did in Germany through the last years, this is a lost opportunity. The biggest "opener" was not a movie at all but the Disney Channel event …

In Austria, the same Top4, but without the Kinofest, numbers are much lower - only It Ends With Us in the 5-digit range and that barely. Totals are still higher; IO2 is now officially at 609k and will add a few k more - congratulations, a Platinum Ticket!

Btw, there has been some kind of cheap-ticket-event too, in Austria, but on a much smaller scale, and not that cheap at all - while the German Kinofest tickets were €5,--, here it was €7,50 - frankly, I don't see the appeal, and marketing was nearly invisible, too. Why bother at all if you're not ready to do it right?

Next weekend: The "big" opener will be Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - while the original is a well-loved oldie, I don't see big hit potential here, but seeing that the newest holdover will be in weekend 5, there's at least the novelty factor, so let's hope for a new #1!

 

edit: Just saw that in Austria, the Disney Channel event was not listed as a regular release; if it were treated as one like in Germany it would have won the weekend by a few hundred admissions. Still poor numbers, of course.
