MJ1 probably just over 1 mill admissions during its first weekend. Assuming that MJ2 even comes in at this number, Spectre should drop below this number next weekend

Spectre with a spectracular drop, but that's not necessarily connected to great WOM because most other releases had great dops, too. IO finally crossed 3mil total, a winner for Pixar after some lackluster releases. FJG2 crossed 7,5mil total. The openers were weak as expected. Next weekend: MJ2 should open to 1mil admissions or more, taking the top spot, but James Bond might show a surprisingly strong hold again - Sony has demanded to keep it on the biggest screens for three weeks so MJ2 will face a little problem in smaller theaters. Therefore it's very probable that MJ2 will be #1, but there's a small possibility that the race will be closer than expected! Overall, it'll be an extremely well-attended weekend!
IndustriousAngel
Ok, first weekend trends is in and we have a clear winner: #1: MJ2 - 1,2mil admissions, nearly as high as MJ1 #2: Spectre - 700k (-45%, ouch but total already > QoS) #3/4: IO / HT2 with 90k each

IndustriousAngel
no question, SW7 will be massive ... plus an excellent opening date for nice legs should be enough to make it 2015's #1. The only question is if SW1-3 haven't left a bitter aftertaste but from what I'm hearing, hopes are up that JJ can deliver a nice yarn. The release hit hardest was The Martian which dropped out of the Top10 after some really good holds. Irrational Man opened poorly for an Allen film but had a nice hold this week! Next weekend: There's a bunch of new releases, among them most interesting for Hollywood: The Good Dinosaur (HT2 is now in week7 so something new for families should meet a warm welcome) and Bridge od Spies which might surprise thanks to the german setting. Sadly, Disney is keeping TGD on a short leash marketing wise, else a start >400 or even 500k might have been posssible I think. And I'm hoping for >200k admissions for BoS (keeping it conservative here but Munich didn't cross 1mil total …) - anyway, MJ2 should win the weekend again, MJ1 dropped less than 45% but even a 50% drop puts it at 570k; Spectre would need a 25% drop or better to beat that!

IndustriousAngel
That's baaad for the Dinosaur ... Pixar back to semi-flops after IO's success (still doing fine btw) Good number for Bond, already at 5.5mil and of course good for MJ2, again nearly as good as MJ1 Bridge of Spies is a real disappointment, with the german theme and Spielberg behind 200k should have been doable.

Putting it so close to Inside Out, embargoing reviews until the day before release etc.
IndustriousAngel
yep, the movie somehow went completely under the kid's and parents' radar. Don't understand the idea either since dinos are still a major draw, in Germany as everywhere. With Sat numbers it even looks worse ...
