SPECIAL PREVIEW. THE RECORDS PENNYWISE IS LOOKING FOR.

This thursday at midnight start the mexican run of WB's It. The horror movie is breaking records or at least making very good numbers around the world. Mexico is one of top markets for horror, as we know, it's been #1 for The Conjuring franchise on its four installments. It is a quite known property in the country, the Tim Curry's Pennywise of the TV mini-series has scared generations since 1990 and the book is also popular (is been at Top 10 of best sellers in very libraries for months), now, with a simple but effective marketing campaign, Warner Bros is approaching that nostalgia and popularity knowing that it can do better than good. With a 4-Day OW, we'll see the records that the Andy Muschietti's film can break:

September record.

In MXN. No se Aceptan Devoluciones (Instructions Not Included): $148.87M. The local film directed by and starring Eugenio Derbez has held the record for almost 4 years. It will have a massive OD (which doesn't count for this record), but is expected to be a little front-loaded since Sep 15th at night theatres close earlier due Independence Day celebrations and Sep 16th at night is the Canelo-Golovkin fight, and boxing is something that has affected even tentpoles like Avengers: Age of Ultron, and recently affected How to be a Latin Lover. Sunday is always a day of increase, but with boxing goes way more up than usual, so we shouldn't trust at all of Sunday's estimates.

In USD. No se Aceptan Devoluciones (Instructions Not Included): $11.57M. Due to the variation on ER, this record will likely stay with Derbez

In Admissions. No se Aceptan Devoluciones (Instructions Not Included): 3.33M. This is a rough record. It is being released in 14 IMAX screens, 43 4D screens and over 60 PLF's screens, plus hundreds of VIP's complexes across the country which will inflate its BO numbers in comparison with its assistance numbers. The Derbez film wasn't released in IMAX, 4D and had some showtimes at PLF's, so reach that height for It will be hard but not impossible.

Horror record

In MXN. The Conjuring 2: $138.86M ($167.45M 4-Day OW). The 4-Day OW is practically locked for It, but the 3-Day OW is still a mistery due the same reasons that the September record.

In USD. Annabelle: $7.61M ($10.86M 4-Day OW). Contrary to the past record, the 3-Day OW record is safer than the 4-Day OW record.

In Admissions. Annabelle: 2.75M 3-Day OW/The Conjuring 2: 3.32M 4-Day OW. Decent shot breaking both.

Current forecast: $9M-$10M 4-Day OW. Could go higher depending on the OD.

I give up, we're in unknown territory, havent' seen such level of PS for midnight screenings since Civil War, i'll see it carefuly the rest of the weekend but the fact is that... IT will be a monster! My floor right now is at $9.5M 4-Day but i won't be surprissed if it reaches $11M or even $12M.

SEPTEMBER 08-10. THE CALM BEFORE THE CIRCUS. ANNABELLE HOLDS AT NO. 1 FOR 4TH (AND LAST) WEEKEND IN A ROW

As predicted, we saw a new lowest weekend in 2017, with strong releases coming we expect don't have anything similar for the rest of the year.

Annabelle: Creation

- First movie since Furious 7 to hold 4 weeks at #1 of the chart.

- Next week will have a 65%+ drop. So $330-$335 looks like its final number

- 2nd highest horror movie behind TC2.

Atomic Blonde

- Next week faces American Made $55M total at best

Hazlo como Hombre

- 50/50 of passing $200M. Videocine will do everything it needs to do it

Oh, what were you saying? :P

I'm telling you, if IT opened at $123m in USA, there's no way in hell that it will go below $12m in Mexico!

Suddenly, Universal moved the release of American Made, the new date is unknown, that's just less competence for It. Just 6 hours to go!

EDIT. Wasn't removed (American Made), it seems that UPI had issues with Cinepolis, so will be released only at Cinemex.

Will it affect the OW gross of AM?  Now its not releasing in Cinepolis will this eat away the gross?

Bloody security question, haven't been able to log in since July so had to create another account.

It opens to a massive 52.86M lc (almost $3M) on Thursday.

Contact @Water Bottle  - he should be able to restore your old account.  Others have had the same problem.

I had problems until I figured out it was case sensitive...
