APRIL 20-22 WEEKEND. RAMPAGE IS THE WINNER BEFORE THE STORM. QUIET PLACE IS 2018'S SPLIT. TRUTH OR DARE MAKES A DECENT BUT NOTHING SPECIAL NUMBER.

Rampage

- As expected, it's poised to cross $200M by the time Infinity War opens this friday

- Still playing at 2,200 screens, is losing about 60%+ this friday, holidays next week may help it to not sink.

A Quiet Place

- Keeps with a very good wom, something hard for the genre. It's not topping $150M's from Split but is a success as big as the Shyamalan title

Truth or Dare

- Should pass HDD's total by the end of the week. $50M look hard to get

Between today and tomorrow i'll do the last Cinépolis report for midnights and a quick recap for entire weekend. I'll wait until wednesday for Cinemex.

But as a gossip: i've heard from some people that both Cinépolis and Cinemex are negotiating with employees of many theatres to keep them working around the clock, at least friday and saturday. I can't remember any movie in history that kept theatres open all 24 hours.

Apparently a screening of Deadpool 2 to several press members in Mexico today.

There was a press conference and junket this morning, it was a very secret meeting. If movie was screened then Fox kept it even more secret and asked to sign DNA's. I'll see if i can confirm it

Infinity War Presales. Cinépolis update. 2 Days before release

  • 10 cities
  • 162 theatres (19.82% from total in the country)
  • 1,833 screens (27.58% from total in the country)
City Midnights % of total screens
Mexico City 659 84.37%
Monterrey 199 76.24%
Guadalajara 170 72.34%
Puebla 109 92.37%
Veracruz 45 93.75%
Quéretaro 88 83.80%
Tijuana 99 92.52%
Cancún 58 85.29%
Mérida 47 90.38%
Toluca 31 53.44%
  1505 80%

  • If shows and demand keep increasing today (Wed) and tomorrow then i think 85%+ of entire Cinépolis' screens can be attending a midnight show. For security reasons some complexes can't open all screens but anyway the demand is there and is insane.
  • Theatres are starting to show the entire schedule, shows for the day can go from mid 30's for smaller theatres (8 screens) until mid 50's for bigger theatres (16+ screens)
  • 36 theatres from CDMX and M.A. are offering all their screens, south is practically full at any multiplex. North and M.A. are on way to that. West still 'meh' except for Parque Toreo and Plaza Carso, both opened all their screens and are close to sold-out. Plaza Aragón and Plaza Telmex in M.A. keep leading the screen count for the entire sample, Aragón is still adding 3:00 AM shows, won't be surprissed if beats both Universidad and Perisur in admissions although not in $ since tickets are way cheaper and has no IMAX.
  • Monterrey is increasing little by little, same as Guadalajara. A late night walk-up for tomorrow is boosting numbers for both. A theatre at south Minterrey is offering 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM shows.
  • Puebla has all but two theatres working with all screens and is hard to find seats for entire OD. IMAX Angelópolis already opened a 3:00 AM show, with 25 screens in total (incl 5 VIP, IMAX and 4DX) is going to be another key location.
  • Veracruz has only three screens not scheduled for midnights, so it's a very positive sign. Strong demand means other cities of the state like Xalapa should be as busy as this one.

  • CDMX and M.A. are still growing more and more as the day gets closer. Lots of theatres are running out of seats, tomorrow should hit 85%+ of screens near to or entirely sold-out. 4D is the most demanded format; OD is completely sold-out at most of theatres for those screens, Dolby Atmos screens are less demanded but still taking a lot of seats for late night shows. Aragón has been surpassed as top location by Santa Fé (at west), the former keeps adding 3:00 AM shows tho while the later has taken top spot not just for Cinemex but for Cinépolis too, 21 screens are booked and 18 are sold-out. Besides Aragón, other eight theatres across area are adding 3:00 AM shows.
  • Monterrey has took a lot of strenght, it has grown close to 30% in just five days! Platino (VIP) and 4D are very demanded, i dare to say Cinemex has gained more power than Cinépolis in here.
  • Guadalajara also had an impressive jump, still far from CDMX or Monterrey but it's a good sign for walk-ups tomorrow night.
  • With exception of one theatre, any other location in Puebla is sold-out. Veracruz and Queretaro are following those steps
  • Unlike Cinépolis, Cinemex on Tijuana hasn't got much more, some shows are starting to be cancelled, we'll see if tomorrow recovers.
  • Those Mérida numbers are just... mind-blowing :sarah:
