wow, is your name, that highly successful japanese animated being released here in mexico?

by the way, that dunkirk number looks as bad as valerian

Yep, is a Cinepolis exclusive. They gave it just 6 days of release (this and next weekend) in a good number of theatres.

Well, nobody expected big numbers from Dunkirk. Not War films neither "auteur" films do great performances in the country, this one already passed Hacksaw Ridge and is on par with American Sniper. Interstellar and Inception barely made $100M. It's not a flop because this kind of movies are meh.

Despicable Me 3, Spider-Man: Homecoming (with super-cheap tickets), War for the Planet of the Apes, Dunkirk, Transformers: TF5, The Emoji Movie, Valerian, local movie Hazlo como Hombre, Captain Underpants, Baby Driver, The Circle, limited 2nd weekend of Your Name and limited re-release of Barry Lyndon.

This weekend will be a crazy one.

WEEKLY RESULTS. LOCAL COMEDY 'HAZLO COMO HOMBRE' IS THE ONLY NEW RELEASE JOINING THE CHART.

War won weekend but Emoji won weekdays.

Dunkirk and Valerian are doing their best to reach $100M.

DM3 won't be at #9 All-Time (BvS: $630M) while Homecoming struggles to reach the 10M admissions (9.78M so far).

Non The Circle, Baby Driver or Captain Underpants made into chart this week. Let's see how they go the rest of weekend. Local comedy Hazlo como Hombre will top the weekend.

And @TalismanRing, Gifted passed the 1M admissions, is 1.05M by yesterday.

MEXICAN BOX OFFICE IN FIRST HALF OF 2017.

CANACINE made its 1st semester report of the year, in which they stated the next numbers for BO in the country of Jan-Jun 2017:

- 10.6% over 2016 at the same point of the year ($8,450M vs $7,633)
- In admissions is also above 2016, 176M vs 167M (+5.2%)

And after the controversy, CANACINE and Videocine (mexican distributor) finally declared How to be a Latin Lover as a mexican production, this would put it as the 2nd highest local movie All-Time behind other Derbez success: No se Aceptan Devoluciones (Instructions not Included).

Weekend estimates as per ScreenDaily:

Captain Underpants: $899K USD ($16M lc). Low start for Dreamworks animation

Baby Driver: $1.7M USD ($30.33M lc). Impressive result, it's overperforming. Let's see how it goes the rest of its run.
