THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE | 787.1M overseas | 1362.0M worldwide

Recommended Posts

Japan and South Korea openings this week, both countries will be HUGE wild cards.

Frozen 2 made $200m there combined.

If Mario does similar numbers there, we could be looking at mother of god final WW numbers.

Yeah too bad Mario will do less than 100M in the two countries combined, unless huge and incredible surprises

Not shocked at Mexico numbers. Everyone loves Mario there. He’s considered an honorary Mexican.

Mexico loves many things that comes from Japan, I remember for example Dragon Ball Super being screened on big screens on various city squares during its final episodes etc. At this point I'm convinced you guys are the "France of the Americas" since they are notoriously the most Japan loving country in Europe

So has the movie passed 900m?

I doubt the mid-week can be that strong in overseas to allow overseas gross leap over domestic's gross.

It has. My update follows BOM's update which is kinda late and does not usually count weekdays overseas.

It was just a matter of time. With estimates through Sunday, Illumination/Nintendo/Universal’s The Super Mario Bros Movie is expected to cross $1B global tomorrow, becoming the first release of 2023 to the milestone, and the fifth of the pandemic era. It is getting there in 26 days. Wahoo!

The Aaron Horvath/Michael Jelenic-directed juggernaut sailed past $900M worldwide earlier this week and through Friday is at $970M. Of that, $483M is from the international box office, domestic is at $487M.

This weekend notably included openings in majors Korea and Japan. Through Friday, the Korea gross is $1.65M in second place. In Japan, play is strong.
