it does not matter. Its having an extra-ordinary run. Good weather in Europe impacted last week. At least this week should be better even with good weather as its lapping another week where weather was good. Plus even if it just has normal drops in existing markets its going to finish with a huge total plus all the BO from Korea, Italy, Greece and China.

Of course, it doesn't matter. The point is I was wrong with my expectations.

Over the weekend, the drama overtook Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the UK to become the third-biggest Imax release of all time. The overall cume there through Wednesday is $59.7M, which is in line with The Dark Knight Rises (-3%) and Dunkirk (+1%).

In BrazilOppenheimer topped the lifetime take of The Dark Knight Rises

Other standouts include Germany at $36.4M, for the biggest Nolan movie ever in the market; France, with a running total of $29.4M through Tuesday, 23% above The Dark Knight Rises at the same point in release; and Australia, with $21.4M to date, 30% above Inception at the same point.

Oppenheimer lose all 10 IMAX screen in Malaysia to BB starting Thursday whereas it still have 4 IMAX screens (out of total five) in Singapore although it was cut to just one show per day.

Are there still demand? The current showings relatively full? Hopefully Oppy will get them back if BB doesn't do well lol

After just two days selling BB all day long, 3 IMAX screens decide to give one show per day back to Oppenheimer. And the demand still high.

That should be happening throughout the world, especially Europe and Asia, where BB will be bombing hard... My local IMAX on Sat for example has 3 shows for BB and 2 for Oppie. The 10 AM showing for BB couldn't be any more obviously a contractual obligation fulfilment. It has zero seats sold. It's not an ultra kiddie-friendly movie, to have those extra early showings sell well.

The 5 PM one has like 6 seats sold... Oppenheimer presales are massively down compared to its first 3 weeks, but even so it's way ahead. And BB is unlikely to have massive walk-ups (especially with the nice weather). I'm not shocked that the latest updates in the UK thread point towards Barbenheimer staying on top. OS drop for Oppie will be more impacted by the weather in Europe than by competition.

In Ukraine, just for example, Oppy will back to IMAX 24.08 (not a good day for comeback, to be honest, cause there is a possibility that we would have huge missile attack from russia, but anyway ) and the 6PM 24.08 showing has more seats sold than BB   tomorrow 7PM showing.

That's terrible - not just the possibility of it, but the fact that it's now basically a way of life.

Out of curiosity, what is the reaction to Oppie there, given...everything, including the rhetoric from orc lunatics regarding tactical nukes?

The reaction mostly is great. And not because it's kind of relevant for us (among the brutal barbaric invasion you became some kind of fatalist and just take a possibility to be nuked pretty ... calm) but because it's just a great movie.

Deadline: The Top 5 markets through Friday are the UK ($62.1M), Germany ($38.1M), France ($30.4M), Australia ($22.1M) and Spain ($17.8M).

Spain passed India and Mexico!

I thought Oppenheimer had a huge opening in India.
