Beyond the Spiderverse will likely get delayed and either Elio or KFP4 will take the spot

That’s still like 6 movies in one month, which is way too much. This June should’ve taught studios not to put that many movies in one month and instead space out releases

But hasn't it been like that for quite a while?

It may have worked pre-COVID, but post-COVID, IMAX is more important as people want an experience you can't get at home. So spacing out releases is more important.

But IMAX is expensive. I thought people, for example a family of 4, would opt for cheaper options. This is how it was pre-Covid. So are you saying this is more of a lack of IMAX/PLFs kind of issue and not because people now prefer to consume entertainment at home?

2 things:

1. IMAX/PLF is included for 2 of the 3 main MTC subscriber bases, so for those folks, they are price insensitive and will always want the premium screens for their viewing.

2. Most movies are not drawing families to IMAX/PLF, but families are not going to most movies, at least not in the numbers pre-Covid.  So, yes, families won't choose PLF, but right now, they are only choosing (rough guesstimate) 2-4 movies a year to attend, so they have way less effect on week-to-week movies as single and non-single adults 18+.
