I think more attention is exactly what he wants

Given uh a certain action the movie reportedly depicts him doing to his wife that may not be the case here

The filmmakers are definitely popping open the champagne tonight knowing that poor sweet Donald and his similarly distressed legal time have far bigger things to worry about now than preventing people from seeing this. Not that they ever stood much of a chance in the first place given Freedom of Speech/First Amendment protections and being based on events/allegations that are public record.

Why Donald Trump Movie 'The Apprentice' Doesn't Have U.S. Release (variety.com)

The TL/DR version: none of the major studios or their indie branches (Searchlight, SPC, Focus) or even specialty houses like Neon have put in bids. The fact that investor who stupidly put money into this under the impression it would paint him in a favorable light (never claim his supporters aren't a gullible group lol) has to approve any sale of the film further compounds the matter.

Yeah, what happened yesterday shows that legally the makers of this never had much to worry about legally.

Suing first has always been Benedict Donald's standard technique

As for his legal team looks as if Donnie's habit of trying to cheat his lawyers out of their fees has finaly caught up with him: The really good lawyers simply will not work for him. They liked to get paid.

I suppose Trump won on this. If it can't find a distributor it may as well have been banned

According to the Variety article there are some studios interested and have made offers, but also some rejected buying the film being unimpressed with it, with one calling it a (wait for it) "TV Movie."

Their biggest movie to date (the already forgotten Liam Neeson thriller Blacklight) made just shy of $10M, so don't expect a substantial gross, but at least it gets to see the light of day here sooner than later. Now we'll see when they decide to date it, presumably in the fall.

Is Trump not familiar with the Streisand Effect?

Even before his entered politics, Trump first action in an dispute was to sue the other guy.90% of his suits went nowhere.

will this go the way of The Interview where major chains become pussies and don't show it due to threats

....did you just forget the entire second half of that story where The Interview got insanely large distribution? This movies gonna be begging for that to happen
