Weekend Thread (5/17-19/2024) | WEEKEND ESTIMATES: $35M for IF, $12M for Strangers, $2.85M for Back to Black, $26M for Apes

Recommended Posts

If that 35m holds that would be 20x IM for IF from its 1.75x. That is really good IM in a while. And somehow it manages to come close to its wildly overestimated tracking.

That's a promising start for IF, thinking it manages to co-exist with Garfield. Have a good feeling about all the family targetting tentpoles this Summer. Very pleased with the Apes hold and Back to Black doing so badly. Doing my part with Challengers' legs, just got a bunch of friends hyped to go next week.

Biggest horror opening of the year. And an $8.5m budget. Maybe this 3 film idea will pay off for Lionsgate, despite the reviews. Will be interesting to see when they date the 2nd. October 4th or early November maybe if they’re sticking to 2024?

I think that's what their plan is and then release the third in early 2025. I think October is the better choice for the second movie.

This film been having real nice legs but damn if it had just opened closer to 40m it could have been a decent performance.

It seems the WOM is good. If more people were bothering to see it in a theater. This will be one of those movies people watch at home enjoy and then wonder when the sequel is coming.  Uh never sorry....

Almost 4× the budget now.

Yeh looks like Sony were right to release this in cinemas. Small opening, but decent legs, 4x the budget and then digital then Netflix.
