Cookie Pictures Tries To Enter The Box Office Arena...Again.

"For real this time" replies a company executive to one of the many questions asked at the re-launch event. Members of the press had gathered in downtown L.A today for the event, although the turn out was far lower than the Studio's first press conference four years ago.

CAYOM Magazine broke the news last night that Cookie Pictures had re-opened for business and that several projects, tentpoles or otherwise, have already entered production. Minutes later Cookie Pictures' CEO Sebastian Johnson announced over twitter a press conference to be held the next day to officially announce CP's resurgence. The company was first formed in Year 4 to develop and produce films to be released the following year, but for reasons explained in the press conference, that did not come to fruition.

"Financial and creative issues held us back" Johnson said. "We couldn't get our projects off the ground and then time ran out. Since then we've gotten in contact with numerous domestic and international investors that have given us the funding to produce films. However, the deadline for our first film to be released is the second quarter of Year 8, so there is no time to waste."

Thanks to these investors the studio currently has $500m in the bank, double the amount the studio aquired in its original form. Cookie Pictures hopes to make good use of that money and invest in more expensive (and potentially risky) projects. "CAYOM is as I've said before a competitive market, and if we want to succeed we need to stand out" Johnson replied. "In a market as saturated as this people want the unexpected, if we want to survive I feel we need to give that to them."

No films were formally announced at the conference, but the studio hopes to reveal them soon.

Note: Cookie Pictures did away with the numbers in the company name.

Golden Age Movies WILL NOT continue with the 'To The Moon' franchise.

During a recent interview with the studio head, where he was asked what he thought of movie sequels, he declared that 'I am not very fond of movie sequels', stating that 'they fail to reproduce the initial movie experience and only drag the original movie down'.

Now, this can mean more things than just one, but the best guess is that, despite the gaming company preparing a short game (which we will get to later) and a sequel to the first game, the studio will not go on with that franchise, despite the first movies success with audiences and critics.

Strangely, it was announced that the 'To The Moon' short game would be adapted into a short animated movie that would be shown in front of one of their movies.

With the later announcement, we can only take guesses if 'To The Moon' is indeed getting a sequel or not.

Gus Van Sant and Ben Foster Team Up For Y8 Drama/Thriller

In a surprise announcement today, director Gus Van Sant (The Road Home) will have Ben Foster lead in his new film for Y8. The story focuses on a paranoid and alcoholic mess of a man, who returns home to his family, including a more successful younger brother (Garrett Hedlund) and his wife. (Carey Mulligan) As the man's family visit continues, he begins to feel distrustful of those whom he had lived with for so long, preceeding a series of events that will leave the family shaken. The film has yet to be titled, but a release is expected in late November or early December.

Im thinking on releasing 4/5 films in this next season that are all already writtenAnyway looking towards Y9Millennium Films announce sequels and adaptationsA rumour is going around that millennium films have greenlit sequels to horror smash horror house and animation candy crush. Horror house will be the last part of the story featuring the same characters but is rumoured to be more of a horror thriller. Isla fisher will return and Jeremy renner will cameo. The film is set to be release in the 1st quarter, supposedly January. Also candy crush 2 is set to come out sometime in the year- possibly thanksgiving. Most of the films cast will return and flappy bird will be incorporated into this film and more characters from the game will be included. Ralph, venelope, pacman and lotso will not return as this film will not be a co-production with Disney and have no connection with wreck-it-Ralph. Also I am going to write the screenplay for the innocent which is why millennium films will not be releasing any more newly written films this quarter as work on the innocent will be taking place. A subway surfers movie is set to hit multiplexes in July Y9 in an animation that will result in an around the world runaway from cops in a tour around the many places and it will be an adventure film. No casting has been announced yet though Kevin hart and shaline Woodley are rumoured to be voicing characters.

^Films, it's advised you wait at least two years between sequels. The only exceptions are Horror event films like the Unbalanced series, which are cheap and easy to make and come out the sameish date every year. Also, didn't Candy Crush disappoint?

Anyway, onto my own news...

Freaks, Sneak Peeks and Sequels

Star Platinum studios have finally released information on their upcoming horror film, expected to be released on July 13th. The film is called 'Freaks' with Wes Craven to direct and Carey Mulligan to star. Few details about the plot have been revealed but it's believed to revolve around a film crew filming in an abandoned hospital. Details have also emerged about an upcoming comedy, named 'Day Off'. Bradley Cooper has apparently been in talks to star. The studio's adaptation of Death Note has also found a new director in David Fincher after Del Toro passed in order to direct the high budget Fantasy film 'Mushishi' (expected to be released in Q4).

Speaking of 'Mushishi', there are rumours floating about that Star Platinum are intending to release a small teaser for the film in front of 3D movies. That last bit is particularly important. Much has been made of Mushishi's visual effects and it appears the studio are attempting to create a Gravity-esque 'must see on the big screen' event, although whether it'll be as successful as Gravity is questionable.

Finally sequels have been put into production for The Legend of Redwall, Run & Gun and The Dresden Files after their excellent box office performance. Shane Black and Robert Downey Jr have both already been confirmed to return for the Dresden Files sequel which is expected to be an adaptation of Fool Moon and has a tentative Y10 release date. Interestingly, Brad Pitt has also been confirmed to return for Run & Gun 2, although whether this is as a starring role or a mere cameo has yet to be confirmed. It's been stated that the sequel will note simply be 'a retread of the last film' so we may be looking at a completely different plot to the first. Like Fool Moon, Run & Gun 2 has a planned Y10 release. The Redwall sequel, however, remains mostly a mystery. It's not yet clear whether it will be based on the sequel to Tales of Redwall (the specific book Legend was based on), Mattimeo or one of the other different books in the series. Rumours have also been kicking about of a prequel trilogy based on Martin the Warrior. Whatever the result, the Redwall sequel is planned for a Y11 release.
