JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

Wikipedia

Spirited Away opened theatrically in Japan on July 27, 2001 by Japanese film distributor Toho, grossing US$229,607,878 to become the highest-grossing film in Japanese history.[33] It was the first film to have earned $200 million at the worldwide box office before opening in the United States.[34]I

By 1.8b though? that's big. for just 1 or two holidays w just a 500m m weekend. Wiki said the 27th and I saw it somewhere else. Imdb does say the 20th

Yeah I guess 2 holidays are not enough. That's weird, in the "Box Office" section on Spirited Away wikipedia page, it does say July 27. But in the first paragraph, it says

"The film was released on July 20, 2001, and became the most successful film in Japanese history, grossing over $274 million worldwide."

Same thing with the info box on the right. And many other sources.

This is why we shouldn't use wikipedia if we have other more reliable sources.

Yes, however, last Wednesday was also Toho day so we would see a decline in Toho number but not necessarily real BO tomorro2.

Up across the board last week. that clued us in on the weekend bump. yes, toho likely to decline but we want to see a hold or increase on the other three to have a shot at 8m.

Spirited Away is still the No.2 non English movie behind Intouchables?

Or have Chinese movies bettered these?

Biggest Chinese movie at the moment is around $200M, we may have a 300M grosser by the end of this year.

How about crouching Tiger and hidden dragon ? I rememberit is more than 250m

Nope, just a bit above $200m.

The Intouchables should be pretty handily in the lead. It did tremendous business in Europe. SA is probably #2 at the moment. Howl's Moving Castle could be #3. CTHD might be #4, then.

But I don't know how well various Chinese films have done of late.

The yen exchange rate has fallen below what it was on Frozen's opening weekend. For the entire time in between it was higher. This means it will approach HP7-P2 at a faster pace, especially if this drop continues.

if it breaks 101 it should go straight to the mid 90s. It hasn't had a large retracement since the monster move up from 75. 5-7% bump. I expect a bad fed announcement or another fiscal probllem any day now that'll cause the dollar to drop. Every may-june some kind of fit hits the shan.Click on the three year tab and you'll see its due to test 95. A Fibonacci retracement would take it to 93.http://data.cnbc.com/quotes/JPY%3D/tab/2 Edited by T E Lawrence

10th Weeekend  - $7.95m

*Total Gross - $181.2m

As usual, he didn't update the overseas total with the Japan total. With the revised Japan total it should  be over $1,208,150,000.

It's no wonder we are low every week, BOM is constantly playing catch up. They will fix the total next weekend and then be 2m short for this week.

With 1.877m from Mon-Tues Frozen should be just over $1.210 Billion, just 5.44m from IM3. It looks like Saturday will be the day Frozen becomes the #1 movie WW for 2013.Posted Image
