JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

It increased. Last weekend was around 700m yen, this weekend was just shy of 760m.

$7.6m would be good. As long as Frozen keeps having these random increases often enough, it makes it more likely for Disney to want to delay the video release.

I don't know who is it, but in past weeks she was in right, and even if it is an estimate, her number is much more real than Rentrak's 5,7m$

Rentrak's 5.8m is only for first of june

Worldwide Box Office (Estimates) Weekend ending Jun 1

12th weekend on par with opening weekend! This is just surreal! The gross for the week was 1.387b. It needs 13% weekly drop till the end of its run to become #1 all-time!

What's awesome is that Frozen is still being shown on more screens (650) than it had on its opening weekend (598)! I hope Frozen will continue to have such a high number of screens for the rest of its run! :bop:

Just sent off a quick message to Disney. Hopefully they're starting to take note! :)

Good evening,

I'm a big fan of the Disney brand in general, with a special interest in the film department as I do box office analysis. I write today to share some insight on your recent box office hit, Frozen. Frozen's main remaining market is Japan, where it is performing extremely well. I have recently seen that the Blu Ray/DVD launch is planned for 16th July in Japan and I strongly encourage your team to consider pushing this back. This is due to the fact that Frozen is very likely to continue to do well at the Japanese box office past July, deep into this year. As can be seen, it's still taking in earnings within 5% of it's opening weekend every weekend up till the recently passed 12th weekend. It is showing no signs of slowing and the Blu Ray/DVD launch could cause significant earnings loss on Disney's part. Blu Ray/DVD sales might optimistically amount to about 2 million max in Japan due to low demand for home video in Japan. As such, as a Frozen fan and box office enthusiast, I urge your organization to strongly consider pushing back the home video release in Japan and watching as Frozen overtakes Spirited Away to become the highest grossing film in Japanese history, simultaneously pushing Frozen's worldwide total past Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2, giving Frozen the #4 spot on the all time box office charts.

Best Regards

At this point, the only chance Frozen has at $300m is if the average for every week from now on is around $15m, meaning interest needs to remain very high. Maybe $280m is more realistic? Avatar still made $23m after the video release, so Frozen can still get over Spirited Away after it comes out on dvd if it gets that close.

Of course we wouldn't have to worry about this nonsense if Disney delays the video release by at least a month or two like any sane company would. The reviewers over at the Frozen bluray page at Amazon Japan are trashing the hell out of Frozen with low ratings (they are already complaining about the high price), which is pissing me off.
