Well, it's sold over 4 million copies on home video, 3x more than any other film on home video.  Not many are going to double/triple dip on it.

Since VCRs don't exist now, we should count all of Frozen's Digital Sales as part of home video sales. Which means we should get sales data from all the websites selling the movie online, youtube, google play, netflix and so on.

Remember that digital sales didn't exist when Spirited away released.

Thank god for that. Spirited Away doesn't need to make any more money on home video after all that it has already made!

Studios typically don't release digital sales data for home video. I doubt it is worth mentioning, since the release didn't make much impact on the weeks Frozen was still in theaters. Frozen only crashed when the dvd and bluray came out.

I just want more people in Japan to realize how great Tangled was. Hopefully much more will check it out after seeing Frozen. Tangled could have done much better in Japan if the earthquake hadn't hit a few days before it was released.

It's actually neither 6th or 8th, but 7th instead. lol.

BOM doesn't even have Say, I Love You in the top 10 when it was 6th. They didn't count its opening last weekend either, so the film doesn't exist right now at BOM (never go to BOM for rankings :P).

Frozen should rank 8/9th this upcoming weekend, Godzilla and Eight Ranger 2 will knock it down 1/2 more places.  It will probably be Frozen's last in the Top 10, too.

Frozen will beat Spirited Away's DVD+Blu-ray sales easily but Spirited Away can still boast saying "over 4 million copies sold on home video" which is an unfair comparision because over 50% of that is VCR which should be excluded from the count, unless we count the Digital Sales of Frozen as home video. I understand the data is hard to obtain, although it doesn't make sense why Disney doesn't demand for this data since its EXTREMELY easy to keep track of digital sales by each individual source providing it.

Disney has the data. They don't need to demand anything.

Half of its total video sales not included because you don't want to?

It's been a while since my last visit to this thread and wow a lot of surprising news. What happened to Pokemon? It's been declining for the last few years, but everybody thought this one would increased. It declined further instead. And Marnie opened lower than I thought it would. I expected more like Arrietty than From Up on Poppy Hill, box office-wise.

And wow Frozen! Already the 3rd best selling DVD of all time in its first week of release. That's crazy!   Btw, Frozen and Maleficent really saved Hollywood movies in Japan this year. Around $320m for Hollywood movies from these two alone. And we still have 5 months left. I hope Godzilla breaks out. For the sake of summer box office too.

Pokemon is definitely going to stay in the Top 10 (probably for a few weeks), Marnie will stay in the Top 10, Maleficent may beat Pokemon and regain back it's No. 1 spot but that all depends on how well Pokemon does after taking in over $5,000,000 in it's 3 day run.  Marnie did quite the disappointing job in terms of grossing; only managing to gross half of what Arietty grossed.

My Predictions:

1. Maleficent

2. Marnie

3. Pokemon

Total Grossing:

Pokemon - $20-40 million

Marnie -$60-100 million

It doesn't make sense to include sales of a format (such as VCR) that does not exist anymore unless you would consider the digital sales as a comparision.

Digital Sales are considered as home video anyway. Its not like you are downloading a movie from Itunes and playing it in theater for public  :D

Frozen fell out of the Top 5 in its 19th week, which tied for 2nd best with Armageddon.

Frozen will remain in the Top 10 this upcoming weekend, giving it 20-consecutive weeks there (and tying Armageddon again but for 3rd this time), but 21 or more needed to tie/beat Howl's Moving Castle for 2nd place isn't likely.  And Spirited Away's 26-consecutive weeks in the Top 10 is definitely not falling.
