JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

well it's still technically a weekday.

I mean, yeah true but it's a summer weekday OD. With 25% attendance in jp it basically means it was making more or less this much even if it had 10 times the screens.

That's pretty ok anyway. It was never about the OW on whether this film did well or not (unless it giga tanked but this seems ok).

7PM Update from Mimorin:

35835: Kingdom 3

35736: Elemental

32881: Transformers

25494: How Do You Live

I'm mainly posting this so I can reference it later but... it sure is interesting how there are 6 movies in spitting distance of each other.

90 seems too low to me? I assume foreign film+recent price increase gets this to atleast around 1350 atp, that would make 100M yen or so

but yeah I kind of overshot it earlier in the day, expected too much from evening shows on summer

it looks ok, early morning drop is usually worse since those shows tend to get cut first so if its at -32% it probably climbs into the mid-low 20s which is good though coming too late. mi7 drop is quite a bit worse tbh.

anyway way too early to make guesses, shin evenings will be dead so its more about whether it has a lead going into the evening for today (though I would be more confident in a satsun bump than I am for elemental/transformers so it will probably win tix wise, but it will have the lowest atp, so gross can swing).

Looks like the week-to-week drop is around 25% for this weekend. An ok position entering Obon festival next week. The WOM suggest HDYL is more like an adult-fare, meaning higher holiday bump can be expected during Obon holiday.
