2PM Report Mimorin:

31594: Crayon Shin-chan

24250: Elemental

18269: Kingdom 3

17661: Transformers

12906: Mission Impossible

12774: How Do You Live.

Looks like a pretty even division of the box-office spoils. Elemental is selling an impressive amount compared to its seat supply. Selling 29% of its seats. Crayon Shin-chan is selling 23% of its seats.

2PM Report Mimorin August 5th

(including independent) like yesterday

33160: Kingdom 3 (82% increase over Friday)

30618: Crayon Shin-chan (3% decrease under Friday)

24750: Elemental (2% increase over Friday)

24646: Mission Impossible (91% increase over Friday)

22268: Transformers (26% increase over Friday)

21177: How Do you Live (66% increase over Friday)

Why are Crayon Shin-chan and Elemental so soft this Saturday? They're not improving from early Friday results.

I mean I know the day's not over, but I'm still curious.

It's just the natural consequence of being a young-skewing film during summer break, films that skew young can go very strong on weekdays during summer break, though honestly I expected elemental to...not skew quite this young, which is why yesterday I was so offI think, evenings just played bad, I went on the assumption that they would play a bit better

fwiw, I think saturday *should* be a touch more balanced and end up slightly ahead, but also AEON jumps a bit more on the weekend since their locations are mostly in malls and places like that, good for family trips, in fact the jumps are a bit better over there

I guess it will be something like a 330-350M yen weekend for elemental.

That will place it behind "The LightYear". Though I expect legs to be better -

¥382,889,300 / 266,727 admits ~ across 3-Days OW.

Disney's Post-CoVid-19 Top Animated Films are "The LightYear" (¥1.22B). next "Encanto" (¥723.9M)

EDIT: Forgetten Onwards (¥870M)

Wait....

I thought Lightyear's OW was ¥306 million, but now I see that that figure was from Sat+Sun. Friday was low for Lightyear because it opened on the 1st and that's a discount day for some theaters.

Anyways, opening below Lightyear isn't so bad because it's opened below Lightyear in most markets, but then it out grossed it with legs.

Seems to be the case in every market now

7PM Update from Mimorin:

45746: Crayon Shin-chan

35835: Kingdom 3

35736: Elemental

32881: Transformers

25494: How Do You Live

22124: Mission Impossible

I'm mainly posting this so I can reference it later but... it sure is interesting how there are 6 movies in spitting distance of each other.

7pm Update Mimorin August 5

Including independent, like yesterday

67619: Kingdom 3 (89% increase from Yesterday)

47011: Crayon Shin-chan (3% increase from Yesterday)

44059: How Do You Live (73% increase from Yesterday)

43533: Mission Impossible (97% increase from Yesterday)

39541: Elemental (11% increase from Yesterday)

38514: Transformers (17% increase from Yesterday)

@IronJimbo & Sheldon's Son looks like Elemental is gaining some strength in the Evenings. Also I expect next week's Saturday will have a bigger jump than this one for both Crayon Shin-chan and Elemental. because they will be holdovers.

Any chance for HDYL coming over 400m yen this weekend?

PiB2 got crush between Doraemon &Conan. Former one did ¥4.34B &Later one, ¥13.49B

Boss Baby 2 was literally the only family film back Dec 2021, when Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 became the 2nd Film in History Of Japanese Cinema to break ¥1.0B Opening Day -

Drop from former film -

¥3.44B → ¥1.00B (-70.93%) - Boss Baby

¥1.17B → ¥0.24B (-79.49%) - PiB

Drop might be harsh but Family Demography took long time to recover until Doraemon this year :(
