Big Hero 6 | November 7, 2014 | Now available on home video

I'll say for now 66/212

A pretty big opening with weaker-than-average legs for a major animated release? :o Even sequels often have stronger legs than this, and all of WDAS' other recent major releases have had stronger-than-average legs.

I'm getting more and more excited for this. Could the weekend of November 7 possibly be the greatest movie weekend of the year? I think so.

For me it is. OK, I'm a Disney fan, but even so I wasn't nearly as excited about Chicken Little's release. ;) And Interstellar is the other movie I've been looking forward to the most this year (not a big Nolan fan, but I like his non-Batman movies, and this one is right up my alley regarding subject matter), so yeah, it'll be a pretty awesome weekend for some of us. :D

It would be tough since it's not in the middle of the tentpole season like the 22 Jump/Dragon 2 weekend was. They'd have to both really break out.

I want reviews!

One of my favorite reviewers, The Telegraph's Robbie Collin, has given it a glowing review, which is a HUGE plus for me:

The Playlist, Times UK and Screen Daily International have all given positive reviews too!

Looks like another winner for Disney!  :D

Wonderful :lol:B)

The last paragraph from Collin's review gave me chills.

It’s also entirely of a piece with a film whose characters’ childlike enthusiasm, for science and super-heroism alike, is the source of their strength, and what allows them to prevail in direst circumstances. Hiro’s response to the death of his brother is to surround himself with robots and adventure – a useful reminder that pop culture isn’t only an escape from reality, but a way of facing up to it, head-on and reinvigorated. Big Hero 6 counts itself as part of that honourable tradition. As you soar with Hiro and Baymax through the clear San Fransokyo sky, you feel as if you can take on anything.

This thread is really slow compared with the Interstellar's thread....

That's nothing to be concerned about because the "normal" people out there far, FAR outnumber the weirdos here. ;) That thread has many more pages than even Frozen's thread, but this doesn't mean it's necessarily going to gross more than that movie (unlikely to the extreme), or even Big Hero 6, for that matter.

Disney films just don't have the rabid fan community that Nolan films do.

And yet no Nolan film thread has managed to be a mainstay on the first page for almost a year post-release like the Frozen thread. :shades:

Nolan and Disney fanbases are like the Hare and the Tortoise.

The Dark Knight Rises' discussion had to be split into two threads, and the last one was forcibly archived by Shawn.
