Rsyu
Potential interstellar audience? It's been a bleak autumn in the theatres, with October 2014 down by 7.32% compared to 2013 and the first weekend of November was also down by 29.89% compared to the same time period. The discrepancy between the two could be a target audience that interstellar should/could exploit. Edited November 5, 2014 by Rsyu

Rsyu
Interstellar over Inception? Early signs point to it being entirely possible. Despite the bad release date, Interstellar looks set to have a stellar OW. Interstellar also has the edge in gross, with an elevated ticket-price through inflation and, in all likelihood, an increased percentage of IMAX showings. Public interest is also extremely high at the moment and if the word of mouth from the general audience matches it in the opening week, then it would be in a very good position. However, having a good word of mouth is in no way a given, with many people raising eyebrows at the long screen-time in particular. The long run-time could also be an issue for potential repeat-viewings. It helps that Christopher Nolan is more recognized and respected than when Inception was first released. Many people here now know him as "That guy who makes good movies". It doesn't hurt that he also has his share of Nolanites too Inception had great word of mouth and it shows over the course of it's run. OW wasn't spectacular but the legs were great. Being released in the summer had a lot to do with that of course. Inception: wk1: 1,238,563 wk2: 1,411,617 (+14.0%) wk3: 1,329,722 (-5.8%) wk4: 811,977 (-38.9%) wk5: 501,164 (-38.3%) wk6: 274,453 (-45.2%) ---------------------------------- Total: 5,926,948 ($38,705,828) Probability: 65% - A lot hinges on it's word of mouth and SNS reaction.
chasmmi
Korea has produced some great war films, Personally I'd go for Welcome to Dongmakgeol for the best Korean War film and JSA for the best North/SOuth based film (although that's hardly fair as I consider JSA to be the single best film ever made but still...) Your avatar kinda gave it away Dongmakgeol is a wonderful film, I think foreigners are kinda put off by the weird sounding title though. Brotherhood of war sounds much cooler. Rsyu
Early interstellar Naver ratings-after 317 votes. So far, male voters heavily outweigh the females, although the females who did watch it, gave it a higher rating. The biggest demography for this so far is males in their 20s.

The OD for interstellar was lower than I'd thought it would be but it should be enough to get to 35M+ with good word of mouth.
Rsyu
OD seems too low...especially given the presales. I was thinking at least 300K admissions system error please?
A Marvel Fanboy
Stellar presales, ordinary OD, must be very Nolan-fans-driven (in other words, general audience not that interested ?), if not system error ....
