I hope it does well in its remaining markets because we need Baymax and Hiro to make it to $600 million WW! There are quite a few, and released fairly often too but generally they're really low in quality and the target audience is very young (like under 5 year olds). Unlike Japan and the USA where animated films receive a lot of attention and support, it's a media format that is generally shunned in Korea with little to no investment leading to a lower quality production and so on in a viscous cycle. It's a shame because the talent is there for it to improve. A Korean was one of the top animators participating in the production of Frozen for example. Now, even popular webtoons (cartoons on the web) get remade as live action television series or films The most successful animated film is "Leafie, a hen into the wild" with 2,201,722 admissions which was a pretty decent performance but other films weren't nearly as successful. Yeah it was released originally in 1976 and re-released in digital form in 2007 I believe. And yup! still 4th... Surprised Big hero jumped so well. It's showings at my cinema have been gutted by Doraemon and OZ It's a weekend movie and jumps have always been larger than other films.
