1.9M!!!!:ohmygod:

Massive increase today and we still have 40+ mins. Looks to finish between 2.2 to 2.3M. Absolutely shattering the previous record(AIW).

What is the release date in SK?

Today at 00.00 AM: 1911.5k

Yesterday: 1634k

Increase 277.5k

Yester: 172k

Today was up 61.37% up from yesterday

Because of this big bump I am going to increase my 38% to 45% range to 34% to 50% over Todays ps number.

I will keep the bottom at 38% because in the evening today the ramp up was slower than expected. Midpoint was 16.40 today. (4.20 pm)

This would give:

277.5k => 371.85k/ 2283.35k also on the last day we let ps run till 3am (the time when almost none buys tickets anymore)

277.5k => 416.25k/2327.75k

So my 10 cents:

Over 2.24m is locked (would only need 20% increase over todays ps's)

I am thinking about a 400k jump tomorrow (2311k).

I give 2.3m 40% under/ 60% over.

To give more perspective, before IW, age of ultron had the biggest PS and that got 950k so IW with all it's hype only managed to increase 200k in ps's in SK. EG just increased 1.1m over IW that is 5.5 times the jump that IW had from Age of ultron. That's just insane, I never thought SK would go so nuts.

UNDER 24 HOURS LEFT UPDATE: :ohmygod::ohmygod::ohmygod:

So, with just 22 hours left until final presales at time of writing, you could say we're in the Endgame now. It blew past my expectations today by over 30k, which now puts 2.3m just about back on the table. Don't think double IW is likely but it's entirely possible.

It's absolutely dominating every thing and every one, and South Korea is no exception. 1.9m admissions is absolutely monstrous, and no less for a well-developed market like South Korea, you just don't see records broken that often, and even then they're usually within 20% or something. The fact this has absolutely smashed the presales record by at least 90% is just mind blowing.

To note, due to the late start in presales, it has never gone below 140k tickets sold in a single day. That's like beating IW's first day, everyday. In fact, only IW's last two days were over its first day, let alone 140k. Here's the increases each day for Endgame compared to IW:

  44,412
  44,648
  60,051
  56,385
332,421 69,134
366,363 60,303
190,641 79,351
147,803 66,423
171,895 97,293
277,932 184,534
387,785 286,964

As you can see, it is just absolute demolition. I'm running out of superlatives to describe this movie.

Screen wise, it already has 2,854 screens (some may be shared). IW had ~2550 at maximum, which was a record. This obliterates that. Many theatres have even put on several showings on OD (technically second day morning) starting at 2 or even 3 am. I saw one in particular that started at 4:30am. At time of writing it had sold 40 out of 172 seats.

Needless to say, this movie gonna be huge. IW did 980,042 admissions opening day, EG will probably do 1.2m. Single day record will go down on Saturday likely, Infinity War's did 1.3m, this may be pushing 1.4m perhaps even 1.5m is in play due to the ridiculous screen count.

Infinity War did 4.76m admissions opening week, EG will easily clear 5m, may even make a push for 6m. The major room for improvement is Thursday, where IW did 'just' 595,668 adm., so if EG can add 200-300k to that, it can make a push for 6m. IW had a 2.35x multiplier, this will be more frontloaded for sure, but I'd say 2.0-2.1x likely. I'd say 6m 5D-OW and 12m total are the goals at the moment.

One thing I will say to me it's extremely strange to put down 12m total when PS will be more than 1.1m more than IW and only do 600k more in total admassion. I so agree it has to be more frontloaded but also doubling IW ps's should mean more than just 600k more in the end. I mean for godsake it almost doubled the previous biggest ps run ever.

:hahaha:when saying 12m total and record breaking OW is being modest....

But seriously, I'm trying to maintain my sensibility. It seems way too extreme to put down any more than 12m at the moment. I feel that, despite so much more presales, there's only so many people that can actually go see it!

As others have said in this thread, similar to China, that the older generation just doesn't connect with it as much as local movies (or Avatar). Which is why I'm hesitant to go any higher :P

Completely happy to be wrong about this. After midnight presales comes in, we'll get CGV presales for OD 20 mins later, and then we can really see what's happening. Honestly something like 400k presales wouldn't surprise me (indicating 800k presales total). Gonna be insane to follow this every hour, for every day!

Another thing to remember for tomorrow is, IW final presale number is couple of hrs past midnight. Highest presale IW had was between Friday and Saturday, I doubt same happens for Endgame but you never know.

Pretty sure the final number I have for IW is midnight (and most movies I tracked properly, some that I didn't track like BP are 1am), though could be wrong. @pepsa @Fish&chips can either of you remember?

And yeah, have mentioned multiple times that Friday midnight was higher at around 1.35m, and I don't think Endgame increases Friday night, but stranger things have happened sooooo...
