Megabox's week 2 merchandise seems like not that popular, But they will have merchandise plan for 5wks. PS were normal, PSm was 2.5, but a pretty low CGV % of 43% takes it to an 85k day. Sun PS 13, going for about an 82k day. New Year’s Blues opens in 2nd with 21k, poor reception at 84% Egg. Monster hunter opens in 4th with 11k, poor reception at 83% Egg. Looks like Soul will be largely uncontested heading in to the Lunar New Year+Valentine’s weekend. The public holiday begins on Th, with CGV PS showing 12k, a 140% increase from Wed and just 20% below last Sat! PSm will probably drop as a result, but should still go for about a 60k+ day here (warning, much higher than usual volatility for first day of holiday period). Weekend could go for about 250k+ if things go well, but it’s hard to say — the previous Friday Lunar New year, 2018, had BP open and crush holdovers. I’m seeing just a 32% drop in shows. Dealing with new releases is a fact of life, part of what makes movies with poor legs have poor legs is not doing well enough to keep screens vs openers.
