that doesn;t mean though that ASM is going to totally die like many people here think it will.

Did you miss May 2012? did you read why Universal is moving Bourne? Yes, it is going to destroy everything in it's path that is not heavily female or kid skewing. Something TASM is not.

It would need to have the same 6-day multiplier as SM2 to hit 300. With TDKR cutting into its late legs, that's pretty much impossible.

Shhhhh....facts and logic are not allowed here!

Just had flashbacks to Hellboy 2's 70%+ 2nd weekend drop. The rest of its weekend drops after were 50% or more. It really was a massacre.

And to followup with that comment, Hellboy 2 opened likely at what TASM may have for its second weekend, $34 million. So yes, they are comparable.

I conceded 300M isn't happening but to say 280M is a bad total is laughable. You're rolling your eyes but you sound exactly like BKB right now. He makes absolutely 0 coherent points with his hate for TDKR and you just joined him in that exclusive club.

yeah ASM is going to drop 90% when TDKR opens right? And then all the way to 0 right after right?

TDKR is going to demolish everything in its path. It is the exact same target audience as TASM! Not to mention that it is following one of the most loved and talked about movies last decade.TASM doesn't have a chance in hell to coexist.

ASM will drop more than 50% from it's Fri-Sun number, especially since it had a 6-day weekend. It's looking at 60m for Fri-Sun, so ASM won't make above 30m in its 2nd weekend.

a midweek opening doesn't make a second weekend drop worse, it usually makes it better

It's looking at 64M+ so 30M next weekend is definitely possible.

6-day total: 135m2nd wknd: 26m (Ice Age)3rd wknd: 12m (TDKR)4th wknd: 7m...and so onThis eventually comes out to 250-255m. Not a complete flop but surely a disappointment, reboot or not. Sony did not give ASM a 230m production budget with the hope of making only 250-260m in the U.S.

SM lll was not THE event film overseas in 2007. It was POTC: AWE and OOTP.

Ugh.May 2007 was that odd month where we had three threequels that each topped $300 million, and no one was happy with any of them.
