Olive
Hard to figure out all these different number, but let's see if I have this straight. Frozen did about 3 million on Friday, but Friday was some kind of discounted day with ticket prices discounted 40%? Saturday is showing an increase in admissions from Friday, but those are full price tickets, so wouldn't Saturday be significantly more than 3m? Finally, it sounds like Sunday is even stronger than Saturdays in Japan, if that's the case then I can't see frozen under 10m for the 3 days, and it sounds like it could be more, unless I'm misreading things. 3M is just a guess.Could be 2-2.5M. Incarnadine
3M is just a guess.Could be 2-2.5M. It would almost have to be. 3m with the discounted prices would translate to a Saturday of 5 million with the same number of admissions at full price, which would mean over 10m for 2 days with a stronger Sunday. With 2-2.5 it seems like the 2 day would be closer to the 8m+ I'm seeing tossed around.
Omni
Okay, mfantin. Corpse's projection for Frozen's total gross is between 70 and 80. Though I think it's conservative, despite Spring legs being weaker than summer ones according to him. Now, I'd really like to eat my hat this time, as Skyfall is my target. But of corse, if Frozen can't pass the 100M mark (damn you, weak yen!!!), I hope it falls 100K under MU (is it the turning point?).
BadAtGender
Man. Japan is going to be a nail biter. It's not just the WW total that's in play, but also the OS total. It probably needs to get to $95 million to get the top animated spot OS. Though probably only $70m to get to #2 on that list.
Ray
They're tossing around DH2 comparisons in the Japan thread now... but let's keep predictions in check until after the weekend numbers lol

That damn Ice Age movie needs to go down.

Ray
I wonder if sing-alongs do well in Japan... or, if there haven't been many precedents, if musicals in general do well enough to think a sing-along would do well...
Rsyu
I wonder if sing-alongs do well in Japan... or, if there haven't been many precedents, if musicals in general do well enough to think a sing-along would do well... Les miserables was the most recent hollywood musical film I think, and it grossed $62m (2nd highest OS market after UK) For phantom of the opera Japan was it's highest grossing OS market ($35m) and being the home of Karaoke you'd think Sing-along would do well there. However it remains to be seen whether such a format would work in theatres, since it failed miserably in south korea (musicals and karaoke are big here too) In any case if it is released it'll only be late on in their run I think & extending of legs is the most likely benefit we'll see if any. druv10
Corpse will be dead wrong. Pun intended! Our over under is 90m. Corpse is on the conservative side. I think 100M is a done deal especially with this kind of opening with holidays boosting Frozen during the latter part of it's run.

iceroll
Those look like some major increases! More than the 12% Sunday increase that MU had, I think it should come in over expectations again.
