KATCH-2D2
China just shocked the world not only by its box office but also the taste in movies. Is that an insult? The movies that did well in China had done well in US as well with just a few exceptions.

alee7915
Weibo said it passed billion yuan today but cant see any numbers yet. This is because they are still waiting for more numbers from the theaters before they can estimate the numbers for today. baumer
How many Chinese are aware that Transformers are actually a Japanese toy licensed by Hasbro? I dont think the Chinese like the movie because they think its a homegrown toy.

A Marvel Fanboy
TBG is holdling surprisingly well. Its per show attendance (in %) has pulled ahead of TF4 on Thursday. It's still doing over 30m on workdays. Clearly, it is heading to 600~700m range, huge hit by comedy standard. Director-debuts: Xu Zheng --- Lost in Thailand ---- 1.266B Victor Zhao --- So Young ---- 712m Guo Jingming --- Tiny Times ---- 500m Deng Chao --- TBG --- 600m+ Hanhan, another Chinese writer who is as famous as Guo Jingming, soon will release his director debut Continent, which is supposed to be another huge hit, on July 24th. So, if you are a famous star (wether an actor, a writer, a singer, or a sports star) in China, highly recommend you to make your director film debut. It's easy money. Rudolf
I dont think the Chinese like the movie because they think its a homegrown toy. I thought they that perhaps some people remember what the Japanese did during the war (in Shanghai for instance), but probably memories are short. The Japanese were very good in turning themselves into victims (Hiroshima,Nagasaki)

They always says"we are anti Japanese" etc but they still watch Transfomers, buy Sony products and visit Japan and spend a lot of money there. A Marvel Fanboy
I cant edit posts any more for a while ...... I thought they that perhaps some people remember what the Japanese did during the war (in Shanghai for instance), but probably memories are short. The Japanese were very good in turning themselves into victims (Hiroshima,Nagasaki) You were right that the Japanese are very good at turning themselves into victims. We of course remember what they did in the war. But that doesnot necessarily mean we cant or wont do business with them.
