Olive
So this should be the min TDKR can make when it gets released thereYeah, I think it can match MI4 number here, the hype is quite insane.
redfirebird2008
So this should be the min TDKR can make when it gets released thereNot necessarily. Inception was based on a more universal concept (dreams). I'd say TDKR should get at least $50m in China if they release it. Beyond that, who knows. Tower
I might have asked this before, but is THG releasing here?It was released a while ago, I think it made about 30M off the top of my head.
A Marvel Fanboy
What kind of potential does TDKR have there? I know TDK was a huge bootleg success there. But without a box office number to back it up, there is no way to know how many will show up for TDKR. Either way, I'll just be happy if it gets released there so the fans can see it the right way instead of bootlegs.I think 100M is possible if all goes right. A Marvel Fanboy
Official estimates:IA4 119M yuan $18.89M; a little underperformed ...Lorax 5.2M yuan $0.82M; so bombed ... worst Hollywood revenue-shared opening in years and that is with 70 IMAX theaters.Had IA4 IMAX, it would do 15M yuan ($2.5M) more last weekend. A Marvel Fanboy
What's the total admissions for his movies though? He might have just been in lots of movies that didn't do exceptionally well. His films tend to do between 50M yuan and 100M yuan.During 2005 and 2011, 10 of his movies got released in China (almost two one year ...). And these movies grossed more than 400M yuan combined. Most of the 10 are buy-out movies at a price of $0.35~50M. So his movies are quite profitable for local distributors. As for total admissions Cage got in China theaters, I would say more than 40M.But actually, many people begun to watch Cage's movies as early as in the middle 1990s. In 1996, The Rock (47.7M yuan, 10M+ admissions) even did more than TC's MI (45.1M yuan, 10M+ admissions) here. Outside the theaters, Many movie fans had wacthed his 1990s classics via VCDs before 2000. Nicolas Cage is a household name in China.
