Tuesday rough report:

1. PR ------ 31.5M ------ 541M (+81% from Monday)

2. TT2 ------28M ------ 215M (+43% from Monday)

3. ONS ------ 24.5M ------ 82M (+113% from Monday)

4. Palace, The ------ 15.5M ------ NEW

5. Unbeatable ------ 6.1M ------ Preview

6. FF6 ------ 3.4M ------ 398M

Of course all movies benifited from Tuesday being this year's CVD while PR and ONS are the biggest winners, jumping 81% and 113% from previous day respectively. Wanda's TV show adapted costumed rom-com The Palace is a DOA. Giant screen count from Wandan Cinemas couldnt save it.

Overally this year's CVD looks to totall around 114M yuan, which is softer than expected but still is easily one of the biggest days of this summer and about 25% bigger than the same day of last year. More later.

Tuesday/Qixi:

1. PR ------ 35M ------ 545M (+101% from Monday)

2. TT2 ------34M ------ 221M (+74% from Monday)

3. ONS ------ 29M ------ 86M (+152% from Monday)

4. Palace, The ------ 25.5M ------ NEW

Overal Tuesday 136M, biggest of the summer. That is more like it.

At this rate: PR will easily cross600M on Sunday; TT2 will do 300M+; ONS will do 150M+; TP 120M or so.

Sep Schedule:

8. 20 Jurrasic Park 3D/IMAX 3D (PR will lose IMAX and 3D screens to JP3D)

8.23 Monsters University 3D (PR Losing more 3D screens)

8.30 The Great Gateby 3D

9.5 Elysium 2D/2D IMAX

9. 12 The Smurfs 2 3D

9.18 Turbo 3D

9. 20 The Lone Ranger 2D/2D IMAX

9.27 Jobs 2D

With so many imported/Hollywood movies being released in late Aug and Sep, it is highly likely for Pacific Rim to get an extended run. PR will end its run on 8.31.

The last time a foreign release gets extension since MI4 (early 2012) is The Croods, which is backed by SMG. Yet Croods still got pulled from theaters on its 7th week when it grossed 35M that week. Even IM3 didnt get an extension, though IM3 was initially scheduled for a longer than normal six weeks run.

Examples:

IA4 5th week 43M 6th week 0M

Croods 7th week 35M 8th week nearly 0M

LoP 5th week 29M 6th week 0M

Mon 16m

Tue 35m [cume as of: 545m]

Wed 17m

Thu 14m

Fri 13m

Sat 21m

Sun 18m [cume as of: 545m + 83m = 628m] $100M accomplished. [138m third week, thanks to Qixi boost]

Impacted by JP and MU on 4th week, a 60% drop is inevitable. So 50M 4th week and 15m 5th week and 628m+65m=693m $112M finish.

You want to go bold. That would be the limit.

That is bold, and if it happened it would be incredible.

Today PR is running almost the same with Monday... very strong legs.  PR's screens are not dropping much even with new release on Friday this weekend.

WB will be regret if they couldn't get an extension for PR.

This Friday screens count from 20 big cities:

Unbeatable: 20% (NEW)

TT2:  23.55%

PR:18.31%

ONS: 11.91%

The Palace: 11.37%
