Terrible.   $3,368,040 in two days.   $15m lifetime if DM2 dominates this weekend.

How is that 'terribly' in any sense? That would make China its highest OS market by long mile.

Infact China is already its 3rd biggest OS market and it would be 1st in 2-3 days.

Undoubtably that most Chinese local films are crapy, quality-wise. Major reason audience keep going to them is simply because they are local ... more connected if done right. So long way to go.

The upcoming chairman of CFGC is La Peikang, who has been in charge of co-production branch at China Film. It is speculated that China-foreign co-producing films will get more attentions during his term.

Does anyone have any background info on La Peikang and the Chinese characters for his name? He seems an odd choice for the job of CFG Chairman and rather unexpected.

I think any hollywood blockbuster that makes less than $50m shall be considered a fiasco this year.

New leadership at China Film ( will take over in February):

Chairman of CFC (China Film Corp.) ---- La Peikang 喇培康, who is the current general manager of China Film Group's co-production unit and one of the debuty heads at Film Bureau, which is a subordinate unit  of today's SARPPFT.

According public news report:

La has long-term commitment to the oversea spread of Chinese films and China-foreign film cooperations. He was one of the major participators in the formulation of 2012 China-US film agreement. La has been active building platforms of cooperation for foreign filmmakers in China and has comprehensive understanding of European film production, distribution, exhibition, film laws, movie taxation, government support policies of the film, the movie business management, etc.

Traditionally, the next chairman of CFC should have been Han Xiaoli 韩晓黎, who is the current general manager and one of the three vice chairmen of CFGC, as well as one of the directors at CFC.

Chairman of CFGC (China Film Group Corp.) ---- Jiao Hongfen 焦宏奋, who is one of the current three vice chairmen of CFGC.

Chairman of HFDC (Huaxia Film Distribution Corp.) ---- Fu Ruoqing 傅若清, who is one of the current directors of CFGC.

Head of China Movie Channel (CCTV6) ---- Cao Yin 曹寅, who is a current deputy director from International Cooperation Department of SARPPFT. CCTV6 is part of CFGC, instead of CCTV.

The current chairman of CFC and CFGC, Han Sanping, is said to retire in Feb. One thing to notice is that unlike Han, the positions of chairmen of CFC and CFGC will be held separately this time. This is a little difference between CFC and CFGC. Simply put, CFC includes/leads CFGC. So it probably means that CFC will finally go IPO later this year or early 2015.
