Walt Disney
What about Star Wars and LOTR, are multiple films eligible there? There are some core themes reused, but most of those scores are original and stand on their own. They were deemed eligible for Oscar noms, too - John Williams was nominated for TESB after winning for ANH, Howard Shore won for FOTR and ROTK, plus Nino Rota also won for Godfather II. Not saying it's your obligation to do what the Academy did, but what are your conditions there? Yes, multiple films that are from the same franchise are allowed. The Star Wars films are all different. The LOTR films are different. And The Godfather and Godather II are different. All of those are eligible. And after sleeping on it, most of the James Bond movies are different as well. So they can be voted on. I have come around to agree with Lab. I even added the Goldfinger score to my own top 25. Walt Disney
This is actually a lot harder than I thought. I wanted to avoid having too many ties like the top 100 film songs vote, but with only 25 film scores, this is going to be a true battle. There are lots of great film scores that I don't have room for on my list.
Walt Disney
Is there a topic where all the contenders can be listened to?There are too many contenders. You're talking about over 80 years worth of film scores. I imagine a lot of the voters will lean towards more modern movies. Some may like the classic Disney movies. However, there is no way for me to even begin to narrow down the contenders for you. Edited November 12, 2012 by Walt Disney

chasmmi
THis is now 2 different film song/music votes and I still cannot vote for Cruel Intentions (Which I feel has one of the best correlations of music to scene in any film I've seen. But sadly it was a soundtrack of previously existing songs and not either orginal songs or the score that made the film.Grrr... There is just nothing original about Cruel Intentions. Edited November 13, 2012 by Walt Disney
Walt Disney
So far I have received 2 ballots (and 1 of those is my own) and tabulated the votes. There are a few interesting races shaping up, but it's way too early to predict the top 25. Edited November 16, 2012 by Walt Disney

4815162342
Don't suppose you want to raise this to Top 50. There is lots of excellent stuff out there and aside from being difficult, I'm afraid asking people to list only 25 and getting a Top 25 will result in a rather predictable and boring list for the most part. However, it's more exciting with 25 because it makes the choices more exciting. The top scores are going to be the top scores no matter what. It's the bottom 15 that are going to be tight races. If we expanded it to the top 50, most scores would make it and there wouldn't be as much excitement. The Ghibli ones are especially volatile, so in case they get deleted before you watch them: for Spirited Away: One Summer's Day, for Princess Mononoke: The Legend of Ashitaka. The Chinatown one contains the entire score. Accursed Arachnid!™
There is a severe lack of Potter.PS, PoA, and DH2 are incredible scores. No offense, but Williams borrowed quite a bit from his past scores when he did Harry Potter. You can hear everything from Home Alone to Star Wars(prequels) to E.T. in the two you mentioned. I love them(especially POA), but they just don't get into my top 25 for that fact. Which is also why I don't have ESB over ANH and SM2 over SM1. I like creativity and originality in my scores(which makes James Horner's scores always a challenge to rank. Brilliant music, but a lot of rehash).
