Box office is volatile. As much as we all seem to think we know it all, we really don't know shit. TH proves that. You need to stop being a fucking douche to people just because they have a different opinion than you.

The pot calling the kettle black.

I dont see anything wrong in prediction big numbers for Hobbit because of the pedigree and the global fan base. But for some reason marketing never hit the peak. Plus PJ hasn't done anything worthwhile in a long time(TLB was a critical and commercial flop). I guess that limited its appeal to non fan base.

Sure, that's fine. But maybe you will think twice before you tell someone that disagrees with you that:

A) their box office acumen should be questioned

B) there is no way it finishes below a certain amount and anyone suggesting otherwise is an idiot for thinking that

C) bring up different movies like MIB3 and TS3 to show how much their ovs box office increased, natually indicating that this film will too.

This should be for everyone.

The pot calling the kettle black.

Give me an example of where I am a hypocrite. Give me an example of where I tell someone they are a fucking idiot for disagreeing with me. There are films box office I am passionate about but I don't take it personally and call someone names or tell them they are stupid.

Agreed. Baumer laughed in my face for suggesting Expendables 2 might make less than the first in North America. If that isn't a douche move i dunno what is. It hurt my feelings. I needed a few days to recover. Edited by Elessar

I disagreed with you, which is still allowed. I didn't tell you that you were an idiot. But I know you are grasping at straws right now. It's easier to try to deflect the blame elsewhere than it is to apologize. It takes a real man to admit they are wrong. You only need to be a child to deny any wrong doing.

Yes, disagreeing as in: "i disagree, if i politely may". You, however: "HAHAHAHA!"Btw, i admitted to Fake i was wrong and congratulated him for his under ROTK WW club. Why Fake? Coz i had the most discussions about this with him.

Honestly, I don't see this weekend as either bad or good for TH. Just there. It just seems to me to be about what I would expect for a prequel. The comparisons to TPM were unwarranted and unrealistic. TPM was a special situation. Prequels(and reboots), all have a history of dropping in attendance. And even TPM ended up barely exceeding ESB and ROTJ in admissions, while not even coming close to ANH.

Prequels/reboots OW decreases compared to last film of original series(Only series that had broken 40m OW before, 2000 or newer):

Casino Royale(-23.1%)

Terminator Salvation(-21.9%)

Rise of the Apes(-43.0%)

X-Men Origins Wolverine(-27.3%)

X-Men First Class(-40.0%)

The Scorpion King(-48.4%)

Puss in Boots(-57%)*

The Hobbit(-20%)*

*Estimated due to 3D impact.

And there are others that opened on different days so are hard to compare, but had obvious drops: TASM, BB.

Drop seems in line to me, and considering how much higher TH's OW is compared to those movies I mentioned, it's actually not half bad.

So Guru got back to me (finally) in regards to me asking him why he was a sheep and followed ewveryone else's 95-100 mill weekend for the Hobbit after a 37 mill Friday:

Posted Image Gitesh Pandya @giteshpandya

@baumer72 with A cinemascore and kid-friendly story, thought it had a shot at a slim sat decline. All big Dec openings were 36-38% Fri %.

And my response:

Dan Grant @baumer72 1h

@giteshpandya but even if went up 36% on Sat that would be 32 mill. With a normal 32% sun drop that gives it 90...thats why 95-100 unrlstic
