Again the numbers from 24th and 25th for the LotR films, this time with Boxoffice.Com numbers:

FotR: 7,3 - 11,6

TT: 7,8 - 12,4

RotK: 7,5 - 14,0

Hob1: 7,6 - 11,6

I don't see why 300 should be so difficult from here. After the 25th, the LotR films did:

219,4mil (FotR), 204,1mil (TT) and 205,3mil (RotK).

Hobbit1 does a little less in dailies but it has a fat lead on FotR and snearly 34mil lead on TT. It has to drop 40mil behind TT to miss 300.

WOM for LOTR was on a whole another level, they got Oscar push and they belong to an era when movies used to get looooong legs. Not really great comparisons.
