No, because AMPAS didn`t vote for its director.

 

 

I want to say that Argo isn't the frontrunner because Apollo 13 sweeped the guilds, but it face planted at BAFTA while Argo did very well.

Ang Lee? Though, honestly I don't think anyone really knows now. We'll just have to wait and see. Though I have a hard time envisioning the AMPAS awarding him or Spielberg and snub their films yet again.

Streep is in a paradigm of her own, and she defies every single fucking rule every made when it comes to predicting oscars. She won her 3rd for a non-BP nominated, critically panned movie. That doesn't happen. 

 

And, they're really butchering the telecast. They skipped over a million techs and went straight for screenplay.

Not really. Judging by standing O that Spielberg got at DGA and at the nominee luncheon, it`s his to lose and his movie could overtake Argo for Picture too. After all, Ben may be loved by everyone but he wasn`t loved enough by those 6000 who make AMPAS. They split his and Bigelow votes unlike everyone else who didn`t split shit.

Disqualified from WGA. The only one he was eligible for was DGA I think. But, DGA votes as if they're voting for picture. They don't write the director on the ballot, they write the film.

Oh, well, whoever wins Best Director, I'm glad it won't be Ben Affleck. For some reason, and I still don't know why, I would prefer any of the other 8 movies to win BP instead of Argo.
