I think 8 seasons looks good.  Feasts and Dance are both very bloated books, so I think the compression was somewhat needed.  Depending on how much material is in Winds and Dream of Spring, I don't see how at least 3 more seasons is bad.  In fact, if the major problem with Season 5 was rushing (Even if it was rushing through some of the drier parts of grand arc), this should be a good thing.

^ great idea. I'm currently rewatching all the episodes (much to the irritation of my GoT hating boyfriend). I'm loving S2 much more second time round... the stuff between Tywin and Arya is just fantastic.

I'm still re watching but I'm actually finding season 1 to be much better than I remembered, same with season 2. Season 3 has some standout episodes and some dull ones (similar too season 5)

Season 1 has always been the best IMO.

Only big nit I pick is the noticeable lack of budget compared to later seasons, as the show skips over two big battles.

Yeah its a little jarring at first to go from the end of season 5 back to 1. That's one thing, as the show goes on and on, the craftsmanship gets better and better. There's not as many memorable shots from a filmmaking perspective in season 1 as the later seasons. In fact season 5 is the best so far in memorable pictures, mood setting, and strong wide shots and frames.

Funeral scene is being shot at Castle Black, this could mean a variety of things.  It could be just that, a funeral for Jon Snow.  It could have Jon Snow resurrect in the fire Azor Ahai style.  It could have Melisandre "glamor" another character (such as Olly?) to be Snow's corpse (similar to what she does with Mance Rayder in the books) in order for nothing to be suspicious, so she can sneak the body out and get it resurrected.

The Freys are returning, as are the Brotherhood Without Banners.  This could mean a possible appearance of Lady Stoneheart.

 

This is a quote from the prosthetic make up artist

 

"Benioff and Weiss, when they write the outline each year, for last two years, we got to this one point and we read this one gag and thought ‘Oh my God, how the hell are we going to do that? But this is going to be incredible!’ And then it got pulled and we didn’t do it in Season 4,” says Gower. “And then, lo and behold, in Season 5 there it was again. And it’s pulled again! But now, in Season 6, it looks like we’re going to do it. Fingers crossed they won’t chicken out.” 

 

This indicates a character (or at least something involving major prosthetics) was going to be in Season 4, then was postponed to Season 5, and then was postponed again to this season.  These clues would indicate Lady Stoneheart but it could also be something to do with the Bloodraven.  I'd bank on LS though.

Kit is still filming in Belfast, so either they're taking a really long time to shoot the funeral scene, or he's been there for more.

Now, fan site Watchers on the Wall is reportingthat the show has cast an actor to play vicious pirate and Greyjoy family blacksheep Euron Greyjoy: Danish actor Pilou Asbæk, best known for his role a maladjusted adviser to the prime minister of Denmark on Borgen.
