  1. I think the trailer is slightly awkward but Matt Damon with the easygoing dude vibes is some of my favorite stuff to watch so I'll be there
  2. I suppose it felt more like you were not liking it much at all from your previous comments. I did find the Matchstick Men and Underworld thing to be amusing (and lined up with my rough memory of what was out in September of 2003) Tbh I don't find him that much different. It's just loosening up quicker because of the compressed nature of the show. But by this section of the game, he's given her the rifle and has started to ease up anyway. But it's not like you can fit in all those small moments as you're just scrounging around for supplies where Joel is giving context to the world to Ellie and you can sort of more slowly see that transition. And since there's no section where Ellie is using the rifle here, this is sort of the substitute of the loosening up, not to mention it changes the dynamic of the game version when Ellie saves him, since there is no future situation to force Joel to give Ellie the gun, it's this specific experience that is the complete trigger for it. In general I think this was the weakest episode so far, which I think a lot comes down to this part of the game being a very meat and potatoes section. It's a lot of gameplay focused segments which obviously doesn't adapt well to screen but there's places they gotta get through to set up where most of the story happens in Pittsburgh (now KC).
  3. The point is the point. As in, what's the point of anything in an apocalyptic scenario. The episode is pretty clear about what anybody even struggles for survival for when the world is in a terrible state and finding purpose. Human connection, taste of strawberries (I don't mean literally, just that the small moments matter), protecting others, etc. Consequently his relationship with Frank presumably will serve as an interesting contrast for Joel and Ellie and the choices they make, let alone how their relationship has already directly impacted Joel's decision to go further here. To be clear, this section is much different in the game, so I'm not really hinting at anything other than Joel and Ellie's dynamic is going to obviously change. If it didn't work for you, it didn't but my two cents.(Also personally think the hype was a bit overblown, but it was still a very welcome episode).
  4. So last year my dad was diagnosed with cancer. At the time, we figured with chemo he would at least be able to extend his life and with a bone marrow transplant at least give him enough time to live out the rest of his life that he wanted to. Unfortunately, he didn't survive past 6 months. And during that time, especially in the last month I saw my dad sort of transform into a shell of his former self.
  5. I would say Tess' big scene is probably not as well done as the game but one addition I was really in favor of, the Jakarta sequence. Very ominous and sobering. Druckmann going to the school of Paul Greengrass for directing
  6. Probably would have felt this way more if not for the fact that the 2nd half is kinda awesome 😅 Has a lot of my favorite parts of the game (though admittedly day 1 of the 2nd half is a bit of a slog). The hospital and Island sections are full of some incredibly thrilling stuff. Fascinated by how they try to structure the 2nd game for TV.
  7. Season 2 of Halo, Master Chief about to tap some more ass
  8. Folks I'm just learning that Correa's last name is really O P P E N H E I M E R, THIS IS NOT A JOKE
  9. I have played through both games several times and am reasonably excited. The reviews are strong and that's nice, though part of me is unsure if I want to see this story played out after having just completing the first game yet again recently. Playing through it, it really made it apparent to me that Part 2 was considerably better in most respects. I'm more curious for that part. There's another thread but I don't know there only can be one thread per show or what not
  10. I said even early on in the run that 2b wouldn't shock me but now it's starting to make me look dumb. At this point, just keep making me look dumber, it's cool.
  11. A group of whales escaping a prison run by evil marine biologists will 100% be the best show of the decade
  12. No problems for Houston imo, retire the phrase @Deep Wang @Menor Reborn @XXR Eywa Has Heard You! @Porthos
  13. I mean do whatever you prefer, I just found it funny to be doing it given Tom Cruise's personal insistence that he happened to a film a PSA for while filming the movie you just watched with motion smoothing haha
  14. We failed by not getting this guy in the supporting categories at the Boffies. This guy made his mark with like 5 lines.
