  1. What's the source for that $149m figure? Maybe Hiccup is pulling an Ob-Noctis. Exhibitor Relations: CATCHING FIRE didn't debut higher than IRON MAN 3 @ the box office, but it was tops in terms of estimated admissions: 19.4M V. 18.4M
  2. GOTG and Ant-Man are not just "Marvel", they're "Disney". Disney's marketing and merchandising clout will make these characters pay off in box office and ancillary revenue.
  3. Deadline.com And Nikki Finke Parting Ways http://www.deadline.com/2013/11/deadline-com-and-nikki-finke-parting-ways/
  4. Does anyone know how much IM3 earned in Taiwan? The last figure I can find is $19.5m on May 17. Probably not much more after that, but curious if anyone has a final tally.
  5. Not if you know how to order! http://badmouth.net/in-n-outs-secret-menu/ Animal style was always my favorite.
  6. You're kidding, right? Did you watch the second video? He was unconscious on the way down! GIF: http://www-thescore.s3.amazonaws.com/images/127121/original.gif?1373173784
  7. He punched Silva full-on in the face while Silva was clowning. The frame rate of that gif sucks. See the video and watch the punch connect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcTHhnBDogs Edited to add: The chin is the worst place to get hit, as it starts the head rotating, which leads to reduced brain function. Still think that punch missed? See a closeup in slo-mo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh0DMWhDP-s
  8. Yes. Please update the title as soon as the next set of overseas numbers are released. Too much goldbricking around here!
  9. But if Paramount only takes home $12.5m of that, it doesn't help that much.
  10. Films that lose money during their theatrical runs are not "Blockbusters". That will apparently refer to STID.
  11. Hey, let's all post false numbers and call each other "sheeple"! It'll be awesome! Better than actual results and discussion!
  12. So Ob-Noctis deliberately posted false information (formatted as actual results) in order to deceive people? What's the ban hammer for, if not for an offense like that. Childish.
  13. Amazing! Almost double what it'll make in Japan.
  14. More like $343m. That's assuming 40% 3D tickets costing 25% more than 2D. It only adds 10% to the overall take (.40 X .25 = 0.1). EDIT: to make a higher assumption, 45% 3D tickets costing 35% more than 2D would add .45 X .35 = 15.75% to the box office, so $312m would adjust to $361m.
  15. There will be a thread titled "IM3 What Went Wrong for Batman and Harry Potter Fans".
  16. $1.2B WW for IM3 coming off just IM2, without the Avengers in between? No way! Can't believe people still don't believe that there is an Avengers effect. At $9 average ticket (reasonable with kids tickets and matinees pulling the average ticket price down and 3D pulling it up), Avengers would have sold about 168 million tickets WW. For a film with great reviews and great WOM, that will have a lasting impact on follow-ups.
  17. Iron Man has been one of the central characters of the Marvel universe since 1963. No, he hadn't broken out into the mainstream like Spider-Man or Batman before RDJ was cast and the buzz started at Comic Con in September 2007. But the awareness and revenue from blockbuster films and the accompanying merchandise dwarf their comic-related counterparts. Amazingly, Iron Man is now the no.1 superhero worldwide, with prospects of retaining that crown for the next 3-5 years.
