  1. I didn't even know they were called the purple smurfs until 20 minutes ago though... I might seem knowledgeable...but Google is my friend.
  2. In the English version they turn purple (a very dark purple though). In the original version (french/Belgian) they turn black.
  3. I just hope the vilains are a bunch of black Navi that just jump around screaming GNAP GNAP! and try to bite the blue Navi tails to turn them black. This would pretty much be in line with the source material...
  4. You're more inclined to believe James Gunn because it's a Marvel movie. At least be honest.
  5. I'm not saying it's impossible. Finding Nemo's original run adjust to around 470M$ and it didn't have much competition in its demographic aside from a Rugrats movie and POTC in its 7th week and Spy Kids in its 9th week. This one is gonna have Tarzan in its 3rd week, Secret life of Pets in its 4th week and Ice Age in its 6th week. This is a very different market than 13 years ago.
  6. The Flying Spaghetti Monster mud wrestling movie coming out in June should have no trouble beating that.
  7. I'm having a hard times with 500M+ Dory. Pixar doesn't have a very good track record with sequels outside of TS.
  8. I watched it on HBO yesterday and there was an ad with 10 Scion. So I can confirm.
  9. But they did receive a significant unit boost though. I understand that the $ figures might end being adjusted later on.
  10. With Black Friday over, JW got pushed over 75M$ in Blu Ray and 100M$ combined. Chances are strong that TFA will be the next 100M$ on Blu Ray(5th to reach that milestone) as JW will most likely crawl to 90-95M$ after the Christmas push when TFA gets its release on HV. The big question is will we ever have a 200M$ blu ray movie (either Frozen or Avatar crawling to that milestone or a new movie crushing records)? Black Friday also saw many titles (old and recent) get a significant boost. Despicable Me is now only 5M$ away from reaching 200M$ on DVD and that's before the Minions HV release boost and Christmas boost. It should not be enough to reach it this soon and this is either gonna crawl to 200M$ in 2016 or reach it when DM3 gets released in 2017. Next week we'll have the numbers for Minions (high) and Ant Man (low).
  11. I feel like it's already been way too long. I know that once the marketing kicks in, I will really look forward to this, but Fox will have to promote the shit out of this one to get people interested again.
  12. Saudi Arabia and Iran had a showdown yesterday when the Saudi King told the Iranian president that only filthy Iranians preferred the prequels to the OT. The Iranian president replied that only dirty Saudis would love the OT because they were a bunch of Gungans and they hate sand because it's coarse, rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Then a bunch of other middle eastern Arab nation jumped in by showing their support to the Saudis with Twitter taglines like #BobaFettBestBountyHunter (Bahrein), #HanShotFirst (Egypt) and #EwoksRules!!! (Kuweit) while some others backed the Iranian regime with #JarJarLives (Syria), #HaydenForceGhost4Ever (Iraq) and #Oder66BestTerroristCampaign (Hezzbollah). To calm everyone down, Disney issued a challenge to all Arab nations to go out on Monday to watch TFA and rank it on their movie boards to see how it compares against the OT and the prequels. You can see some of the rankings on the following movie boards : www.ISISmovieboards.com www.SaudislovetheOT.com www.Iranstandswiththeprequels.com
  13. So the people who paid to see the special edition of Avatar didn't pay to see Avatar? What about Titanic? E.T.? A New Hope? TPM? Lion King? Jurassic Park? When Michael Jordan came out of retirement to play for the Wizards, did his points count? okokok, enough with the sports analogies!
  14. I just wanna say that Wayne Gretzky scored more touchdowns than Barry Bonds, but his plays on the greens lacked a bit when he was playing for the Dallas Cowboys during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He would probably have beaten ET if he'd have 7PM Thursday previews in 1987 with the L.A. Oilers. Anyway, to quote the great one : you miss every (nude) shots of Scarlett Johansson that you don't take...so please take those shots!
  15. But are we expecting a similar Oscar boost like ROTK had? TFA won't have 10+ noms and multiple wins. I'm just saying that at some point in Feb, TFA will "drop" from its 3.2X-3.5X ratio of ROTK on daily gross comparisons.
  16. I see a lot of people comparing ROTK's later run to TFA. Are we really expecting an Oscar nominations boost as well as an Oscar awards boost?
  17. Comic book movies (MCU included): 1st act : Hero is introduced (re-introduced for sequels) by battling small villains, solving minor issues 2nd act : Main villain is introduced (or villain's plan) , while hero is experiencing doubts or failures - Villain sets up the hero. 3rd act : Hero regains confidence (gets his shit together) and find a way to defeat the villain. Hero wins, but a sequel is usually set up by unfinished business (villain escapes, proxies get hurt and want revenge, unseen villain pulling strings). QT movies 1st act : A bunch of characters are having a conversation about something while being introduced to the audience 2nd act : A bunch of them are killed in non-chorological order 3rd act : The remaining characters have another conversation about strudels, tips or burgers before killing/torturing most of the remaining antagonists
  18. Sadly you can only see movies in English in Montreal, Quebec City or cities close to the Ontario border. When Darth Sidious and Arnold Schwartzeneger are dubbed by Yves Corbeil, you know you're seeing shitty translation.
  19. He flew with Kal-El airlines. He also asked Green Lantern to put some gas on the side of a big building in the shape of his bat signature.
  20. I don't know if this has been discussed or not... We all know JJ is a master of misdirection (the trailers made it seem like Finn was the main Jedi in the movie, Captian Phasma was marketed like a bigger role...etc..). In the movie, it is mentioned that Luke was training the new generation of Jedi and that one of them betrayed him and killed the others. Since Han Solo is telling that story and we just learned tha Kylo Ren is his son a couple scenes before this, we are supposed to assume that Kylo Ren/ Ben Solo is the one that betrayed Luke. Could it be possible that Snoke was the apprentice that betrayed Luke? Snoke is deformed and Jedi Masters are experts at crimpling Sith Lords (Mace Windu with Palpatine/Sidious & Obi Wan with Anakin/Vader). Do they specify in either the movie or the novelization that Kylo Ren was the student that betrayed Luke or was it simply inferred? Things I want to see explained in EP 8: Who is Snoke? Why the need for a mask for Kylo Ren? Fashion? Rey's relation with the Solos and Skywalkers. Where did she learn the Wookie language? How was Luke's fire lightsaber recovered from Cloud City? Link between the First Order and the old empire. Was Snoke in the Empire? When did the Jedi massacre happen? How old was Rey at the time? Where was she? If the massacre happened when she was 4-5 years old, then Ben Solo/Kylo Ren was around 14-15 years old. Pretty young to lead a massacre...
  21. Okay time to be serious and ignore all trolls. I believe this will decrease from the original but this will make at least 500M DOM and 2B WW. The original came in at the right time and surfed on the beginning of the 3D era. It's less popular now, but once marketing kicks in and people see the visuals effects, they'll forget that they hate the original and come back to the movie theater to see it. James Cameron is a great director and knows what drive people to the movies. After all, he's James Cameron the greatest pioneer.
