  1. GA Americans will have a problem because what you described is Statutory Rape in the US and could be felony depending on the ages. I get the movie's not taking place in the US, and laws are different one Italy, but it won't stop it from rubbing people the wrong way (especially since there doesn't seem to be an issue made of the age gap in the trailer, maybe there is in the movie?) I don't think your comparison is right either. This seems like playing a relationship that appears pedophilic in nature due to the ages and how the actors look, and really not acknowledging it (at least in the advert). Saw is an unrealistic horror film franchise, that's playing everything that happens as messed up (and even then, the Saw movies aren't good). Even then im mixed on how I feel about the trailer, I'm willing to give the movie a shot but the trailer definitely rubbed me the wrong way.
  2. Yeah, the weird age gap, if it's not in the story, just seems like an attempt to be edgy and edge on boundaries for the sake of it, because you have to push boundaries to be a good art movie. I don't particularly like that I'm prejudging a movie, but the trailer plays like a stereotype of that art house movies critics rave and audiences hate. A "Taboo" lovestory about a young white European boy the critics can identify with having a sexual awakening that ends with a sense of tragedy, yet plays in a way that you can plaster quotes like "A revelation about the tragic nature of life, love and the coming of age!" But then again, I'm pre-judging it. Maybe it'll be as good as the early critics are raving, but it's rubbing me as pretentious versus actually being organic and real like a movie like Moonlight was.
  3. Yeah, I know it's not the intent, but Hammer's character gave off a slightly predator like vibe to be. I think they needed either an older main character or a younger supporting.
  4. Italy's age of consent is different than the US, so the movie's kind of in the clear. But that sort of age gap when the younger party is still a young teenager just feels unsettling (and in the US, illegal).
  5. Not all of the reviews are in yet. I'm not saying it won't get any Oscar attention, I'm just not convinced it'll rack up major nominations yet.
  6. Eh, I'll be honest and say I did pick up a creepy uncomfortable factor from the trailer. Then again, I've never been that into movies/books where the nature of the relationship feels like pedophilia, even if it's not. They're just uncomfortable for me. Not sure how it's supposed to play but it did turn me off from wanting to see the movie. If the reviews stay glowing and I get a chance to see it, I probably still will. Im not convinced this is getting Oscar attention though, and I'm fairly positive this won't be any sort of hit in the DOM box office.
  7. A Dark Tower TV series could actually be fairly good. They should scrap relations to this movie and just try to adapt the books on screen, similar to GoT. Dont let the poor movie make you think King's novels aren't good and worth adapting.
  8. So when are previews going to cease being previews and movies just start opening on Thursday instead of Friday.
  9. Also, this is far out there speculation. But what if climax of the series is Daenerys marrying the Night King in order to form a pact between men and the Others (Ice and Fire) in order to bring peace and stop the army of the dead from destroying everyone?
  10. Thats true, also with the initial ambush from Euron, its likely he was sailing out of Blackwater Bay, so depending on when the Dornish ships left he could easily intercept them based on the geography. Then with a lot of the time complaints, it seems like they're just not taking the time to show "traveling scenes" so it kind of feels like teleporting, when in reality it seems like there's just assumed time between different scenes. The shows been like that since the beginning season 1. Catelyn goes from grieving in Winterfell in episode 2, to appearing at King's Landing episode 3, to being back at the crossroad in episode 4, and the news that she kidnapped Tyrion gets to everyone right at the beginning of episode 5 (so immediately after she did it narratively). She didn't really teleport, there was presumed time gaps between those moments. I think the difference with Season 7 is those time gaps are made more apparent as characters aren't isolated anymore.
  11. If you've read the leaks, I don't want to know if this predict for next episode or so is right or not. It was just my thoughts on what would likely happen. (Not actual spoilers, just my predicts, but tagging it as it's heavy speculation on what might happen)
  12. I personally think this looks bonkers (in a fun way). Don't get the hate. I don't really care if the book is good or not, as Spielberg has made great movies out of trash source material before.
  13. Im guessing they didn't pay attention to the logistics of directions. I'm also assuming time is moving much quicker between scenes this season compared to others, which I'm overall fine with (but it could have been done with a bit more thought). But yeah that episode was fantastic. I liked how tame the action sequences were, as if you're watching a large game of war spanning out in front of your eyes. It definitely raised the stakes.
