  1. (Id like more of these comments but I hit my like cap) But yeah, it's easy to remember back on yourself being a perfect child, but I doubt that's what happened in reality. There are are plenty of moments I remember my parents snapping at me (sometimes in a theater) and me being clueless because I thought I was behaving fine (when in reality I was likely jabbering on and being loud somewhere I shouldn't have). I'm also a sure everyone who says "I was not like that as a kid!" had plenty of moments where they acted up in public spaces. Not calling anyone a liar, your memory just sugarcoats things and isn't entirely reliable (especially if it's something that happened as a kid).
  2. I think this is mostly a question of who's had kids (or has spent a lot of time helping raise kids). I've had plenty of kids in my family (and outside actually) I've helped babysit and watch because that's how my family works, so I also have a decent understanding of some of the issues raising them. Im sympathetic to parents because people make the job out to be a lot easier than it is. Unless the parents are taking their kids to a movie that's not an appropriate setting for them (such as taking your seven year olds to see the Revenant at 9pm) I really can't blame kids for being kids.
  3. You don't seem to be getting that the only way to teach them theater etiquette is to take them to a theater. It'd be like not letting the kid in a little league baseball program until they learned how to play baseball.
  4. I don't blame them. I would have done the same thing if my parents made me sit through that.
  5. Im just saying, kids are by nature going to want to talk during a movie. I also don't think it's fair to the kids or parents to punish them for that (especially since they obviously chose a time and movie that was catered toward a family audience). The parents can either answer their questions, or get pestered by the same one until they answer it (or worse off, the kids get restless and start throwing things and running around). I don't know how loud these parents were acting, or if they were trying to stay quiet when talking, but in general I couldn't blame the family in this case. It'd be like getting mad when you get a puppy and find out it poops in the house and chews on things, what did you expect?
  6. Children talk, I get being annoyed when it's an action flick or something. But if you go see an animated or family movie (especially a summer matinee), there are going to be kids, kids are loud, and you can't be upset about that. If I go see an animated movie, I purposefully try to plan for a late night time for that exact reason.
  7. Yeah, if you want to catch a movie who's main Demo is families, don't see it during the matinee (or if you do, understand children are innately obnoxious, nothing you can do). It sounded like the parents were trying to keep their kids engaged in the movie and not start getting restless and running around the theater (which would be more distracting). This isn't a case where a dad took his young kids to see the Revenant at 9:30pm, and constantly had to explain what was happening. I don't blame them.
  8. I wonder how Wednesday will play with these muted Tuesday increases. Trans5mers is also having a full day though so I can still see some harsh drops for the holdovers. I think WW rebounds Thursday or Friday.
  9. This was absolutely phenomenal and im disappointed my first viewing of this couldn't have been in theaters. I more or less saw a lot of the twists coming ahead of time, minus a few, but it didn't detract from the viewing because it was so well done. The film was entrancing, like hypnotism, and it was a perfect blend of weird, allegory and realism. The performances were spot on, I enjoyed how people would be just slightly off. Kaluuya and Williams really sold their roles as the leads. I also was never waiting for the film to end, it kept me glued for the whole hour and a half and I'm sure it will when I decide to watch it again. Peele does a fantastic job as a first time director and how he builds a tense atmosphere. The film is structured brillianty and never lingers. The film is also technically great in just about every aspect as well. From how each shot is shown, to the pacing, to subtly off score, it's a blast to watch through the entire thing. There's also plenty of depth to take from the film, even from just the surface level. It's a blast to watch through, but it also uses its platform to challenge its audience and give them themes to remember when the sensations ware off. It's innovative, fresh and poignant. A+
  10. What do you guys think of an "Off-Season" version of the Summer/Winter game? In essence, it'd be twice a year, and only go for the months of September/October and March/April. The pre-seasons would be significantly shorter. You'd give your top 7 DOM, top 3 OW, and top 5 WW, plus 5 pre-season questions. The weeklies would consist of 5 questions (one where you pick where three movies would rank, guess a weekend gross, etc) Then there'd only be 3 SOTM questions. The idea would be to give an outlet to predict some big off-season movies, but also be significantly reduced and "low-budget" version of the Summer/Winter game.
  11. This club has inspired me, this time next year I'm going to be making a Disney's "Mulan" musical thriller over 500m in China club.

  16. I think just how otherworldly the numbers it was pulling made it interesting for me. It was crazy to see weeklies where each day was the size of OWs.
  17. Wonder Woman is such a fun BO run. Leggy blockbusters are always the best to follow. It's nice to actually follow a BO run instead of just the OW.
