  1. I liked his performance, but that would mean not nominating one of my other choices, and I haven't even seen Leo or Fassbender yet. He'd for sure be behind these 7 for me right now 1. Steve Carrel – The Big Short 2. Michael B. Jordan – Creed 3. Matt Damon – The Martian 4. Samuel L. Jackson – The Hateful Eight 5. Abraham Attah – Beasts of No Nation 6. Domhnall Gleeson – Ex Machina 7. Tom Hanks – Bridge of Spies
  2. I can't every day in theaters obviously. But I can watch a Netflix film during the night when I get home, even if I have something to do.
  3. Try seeing if your university does plays or recitals. Obviously this isn't feasible for everyone depending on where you live.
  4. Practically, it's a film 6 days a week, and something else once a week. Then add on a book a month and visiting something cultural on a vacation. I can get into a lot of free art shows, plays, recitals, etc. so it shouldn't be to difficult. It's just going out of my way to broaden my cultural view a bit.
  5. I really enjoyed it, and it's very well crafted. My biggest problem with the ending is Gordo's plot isn't as genius as the film makes it out to be. He left legal proof of his lawbreaking, and a simple paternity test would determine who the child is. I like the core theme and idea behind it, but the "revenge" isn't actually all that strong if you think about it. That weakened the effect of the payoff for me. The film as a whole as to realism and is believable while watching, but a lot of it can unravel pretty quickly if you think more than Edgerton wants you too. Plus, the bit with Bateman fabricating information was out of left field and really unnecessary. It's a strong film though and Edgerton is great in it, and Bateman and Hall are good too. The pacing is strong and it keeps you in suspense. I wouldn't call it glowing though. It unravels a little too easily. B

  8. I was inspired by the 365 day movie challenge to try and take it to the next level. The purpose of this challenge is to expand your cultural view as a whole. The Rules 1.You can start any day (preferably this week so it's mostly a 2016 deal) 2.Every day of the year you must either wach a film, go to a play, go to an opera or musical, go to a concert, go to a recital, go to a ballet/dance performance, or go to an art/history museum/gallery (or something similar) 3.You may not do the same thing for an entire week. So you can't just watch films, you can however have 6 days be films and 1 day go to an opera. 4.You must read at least one novel, book, or novel length essay/essay compilation a month, it can't be something you read for a class. 5.During the year you must go to at least one "cultural showcase" a year that's outside of the town you live. The showcase could be a film festival, a museum, a gallery, a rodeo, etc. It's your choice, but its encouraged to be something you haven't seen/been to before. Keep track of it here! So far mine is Jan 1 - Film: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Jan 2 - Film: The Gift (2015) Jan 3 - Film: Kung Fu Panda (2008) Jan 4 - TV Show: Jessica Jones Episodes 1-7 Film: Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) Jan 5 - TV Show: Jessica Jones Episodes 8-13 Film: Blade Runner (1982) Jan 6 - Film: Once (2007) Jan 7 - Film: Star Wars: The Force Awakens an IMAX Experience Jan 8 - Film: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) Jan 9 - "Gallery": Board Game Maker Meet Up Film: The Revenant (2015) Jan 10 - Film: The Station Agent (2003) Jan 11 - Film: Gravity (2013) Jan 12 - Film: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) Jan 13 - Film: Short Term 12 (2013) Jan 14 - Film: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Bengazi (2016) Jan 15 - Convention: Winterfest Film: Creed (2015) Jan 16 - Convention: Winterfest Film: Norm of the North (2016) Jan 17 - Film: Ex Machina (2015) Jan 18 - Film: Jurassic World (2015)
  9. Never read comments, reviews, and IMDB forums. It's lawless and troll infested. It's a safe haven for movie trolls like the Wild West was for bandits.
  10. I'm going to give it a go, I know I'll likely end up missing a day or something because of a variety of circumstances, but I'll try and hit that 365 number. I also want to try and see 100 from 2016, may not work out, but why not? I'm not going to play by the only films you haven't seen before rules, I think re-watching can be just as valuable as watching for a first time. Jan 1 - Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Jan 2 - The Gift (2015) Sicario (2015) Jan 3 - Kung Fu Panda (2008) Jan 4 - Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015) Jan 5 - Blade Runner (1982) Jan 6 - Once (2007) Jan 7 - Star Wars: The Force Awakens an IMAX Experience Jan 8 - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) Jan 9 - The Revenant (2015) Jan 10 - The Station Agent (2003) Jan 11 - Gravity (2013) Jan 12 - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) Jan 13 - Short Term 12 (2013) Jan 14 - 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) Jan 15 - Creed (2015) Jan 16 - Norm of the North (2016) Jan 17 - Ex Machina (2015) Jan 18 - Jurassic World (2015) Jan 19 - About Time (2013) Jan 20 - Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) Jan 21 - Nacho Libre (2006) Jan 22 - Red 2 (2013)
  11. The field is small enough and she is a big enough presence, that I doubt itd knock here out. It's happening in supporting actor because that field is just incredibly packed with options.
  12. So Fri: 34.2m Sat: 37.3m Sun: 24.2m Weekend: 95.7m
  13. Not that CinemaScore matters, but after I saw the Hateful Eight I knew it wasn't going to play well with a mainstream audience like Django did.
  14. By the way, Happy Birthday to @Baumer Fett! Was meaning to say that all day.
  15. Didn't Kal spawn like an evil twin over in the Avatar 2 thread? How about him?
  16. I feel successful with my list now. The closest thing I got to outrage was a little sass from @Obi-Wan Telemachos
  17. Crimson Peak at number 1?? Jurassic World number 3 (Okay, I can't be outraged at this, it was my number 10)?? No Inside Out??
