  1. When do presales begin? Is it too early to expect anything for Escape Plan? Or I suppose it's only for blockbusters..
  2. Surely Star Wars was the first global blockbuster. Before that, I can't recall there being anything as universally popular.
  3. They don't come out for another 3-4 days, and I don't think The Hunger Games will do that well.
  4. Went to see RED2 last night. The film is shit, nobody laughed or seemed to care about the movie at all. The cinema was about 40% full on its 2nd day in release, and it was a Saturday night, so I am not suprised at all that Escape Plan jumps back into the #2 slot.
  5. Me and two friends went to HK to watch Escape Plan, but the release date was changed, so we watched Gravity instead. So we watched Escape Plan 3 times in Shenzhen and once in Guangzhou. I would have liked seeing it in HK also, but looking at the gross of China so far, I'm glad that I'm part of it rather than the small gross of HK.
  6. Yeah, so I can't see Escape Plan making less than $40m now. It will be out of cinemas on Dec 4, and I predict with a total of close to $50m.
  7. Is Escape Plan getting released in South Korea? I've not been able to find any information on whether it will be..
  8. I haven't been banned for a long time. It was my choice not to return.
  9. Thanks Tower. Will Rth not even know? or was that Twitter link him?
  10. Does anyone have a daily breakdown for Escape Plan? because based on the estimates given so far, its total should only be Y175m, not the Y178m that the YTD chart indicates..
  11. My fourth viewing of Escape Plan today. It was an afternoon showing and 5 people showed up.
  12. Does anybody have an idea how well Escape Plan did/is doing in Israel? I believe it was released, but I cannot find any data for it.
  13. Good news for Escape Plan. Hopefully it continues its great overseas run in Germany. It really needs another big market (apart from China) to really cement its success. Many smaller markets have it doing very well, but that doesn't impact the overall overseas total much.
  14. He's definitely not me. GermanStallion was following Stallone box office even when I was posting here (and on BOM) -- he's not new. From what I can make of him, he's a pretty decent guy too.
  15. I don't need to tell you that I think your taste in movies is shit. You grade all the pretentious shit highly and look down on everybody else. It's not harmless fun when you are such a film snob.
  16. Yeah! And we're both English, and that's the audience that really matters
  17. They're making a third? I know about TASM2, but I never suspected a third until the 2nd was deemed a success. Cool. I never got into Raimi's Spider-Man movies, but with TASM, it's just more interesting. Raimi's movies always made me feel not part of the movement, as if I had to have read Spider-Man comics as a child to participate in them. Hopefully TASM continues as the first started. This could be a great, great, great trilogy.
  18. Oh shit, he bolded it. He's serious. Okay, then I think that The Amazing Spider-Man is the most consistent superhero movie I have watched.
  19. It's impossible to have evidence to prove something that hasn't happened yet and will never happen. I can only go on my feeling, and my feeling tells me that the general audience would not be happy if Bond were black. It's also good to know that you have zero evidence in your defence.
  20. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines T3 is actually a really bad movie. It's cowardly and does nothing to further the story of this franchise. The action and set pieces are well done, but that's all this movie is; one set piece after another with little point to anything. After Terminator 2: Judgement Day, you expect to see Judgement Day happening and the world at least partly turn into a wasteland, but there's none of that here, just more wasting time. It was a cash-grab, I can see that now. How many times can they send a terminator back in time and they still fail? It got stupid after T2. Then comes the embarrassing comedic attempts. The CGI and action set pieces were great. Claire Danes was fantastic. Nick Stahl wasn't. Arnold was Arnold, but not as good as 1991 Arnold. The Terminatrix was pretty laughable to be honest. There are some great shots in this movie, and some great still shots for the marketing team (like the one above), but I just felt that this was more of a rehash/remake of T2 than it was another chapter in the story of the rise of the machine army. It just got all too jokey, like a spoof version of T2, and that's why when Salvation changed the mood back to serious, it was lambasted. I admire Salvation for its bravery in actually furthering the storyline. T3 was just one long delay. C
  21. The Matrix A great film, but it can get overrated occasionally due to lots of praise, which then just spawns more praise. For me it wasn't as good as The Matrix Revolutions, but the brilliance had to start somewhere. B+/A-
