  1. For some reason, I thought this was a "what's your favourite score from 2013" thread. Yes, I also do not see Oblivion getting anything from the Academy.
  2. 1. A Christmas Carol (2009) 2. Jingle all the Way 3. The Grinch 4. Home Alone 5. Love Actually 6. Home Alone 2 7. Four Christmases 8. The Polar Express 9. Fred Claus 10. The Santa Clause (1994) 11. Home Alone 3 12. Jack Frost 13. 14. 15.
  3. It's different, though. It has George Clooney as equal top-billing and is about space and includes many references to the Chinese space station, which the audience love every time it is mentioned. Catching Fire is just another young adult movie with a girl as the main lead, and not a girl that is particularly known either.
  4. These remain in my Top 50 Worst Films Ever Made list. I should probably move The Godfather out since it does have some merit, but the second and third ones are staying forever. As a franchise, it's awful. On par with The Hunger Games (so far) and the Fast series. I suppose I wish I could see what's so great about them, so that I could appear as one of the cultured elite, but I'd be lying to myself to praise them based on other peoples' judgement of them. A mournful and painfully slow score accompanies an anemic and subtle mafia story. There's the review part. You guys will succeed in the discuss part, and I'll sit back and have the fun.
  5. Ok, then label me a contrarian. See if I give a shit. Anything to stop me having to read BS posts like this.
  6. You can keep telling them that, but they will always use the higher $70m figure so it's easier to label it a bomb or a disappointment, or whatever other shitty term that makes it look bad.
  7. Well, I also like Rob-B-Hood and The New Police Story, which he directed, but apart from those, I've not seen his others. From what I've seen, he's fine.
  8. Benny Chan is a fine director. Who Am I? is one of my favourite movies. I'm well up for The White Storm, and hearing of its running time has only made me more excited.
  9. Twilight is good. New Moon is good. Eclipse is good. Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2 are shit. You won't find many that agree with that.
  10. What is it with these polls and pitting bad movie against bad movie? The Dark Knight.
  11. I think The White Storm looks awesome and I will definitely see it. I hope it doesn't bomb. I hope it's another Drug War, which was great. I'm pretty much a Louis Koo fan now.
  12. I disliked The Dark Knight Rises, but it wins this poll by a country mile. Catching Fire is shockingly bad.
  13. The right answer will be on the script. If you have a copy or a photo of the script, then we will know. If it's on the DVD and in the cinema as Wes Craven's New Nightmare, then I'd tend to agree with that title.
  14. No Man's Land looks pretty good too, so I'm happy if it dominates for a while.
  15. I guess The Simpsons might win, but I hope not. That show is really past its sell-by date now. Glad to see some of my childhood favourites, though, like He-Man, G.I. Joe and Thundercats. I didn't vote, but I would have included such cartoons as X-Men: The Animated Series, Rambo: The Animated Series, and The Jackie Chan Adventures. There were a ton of different Batman cartoons too, but the best was the one immediately before Batman Beyond, around 1997-98, I think it was just called Batman: The Animated Series. Then there's the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ("Turtles in a half-shell, Turtle Power!"). Man, I love and loved cartoons. Another good one was Captain Planet. But really whenever I think of cartoons, it's always Saturday morning on Live & Kicking with the X-Men: The Animated Series theme tune, so catchy and memorable. Then there are those non-franchise related cartoons like Pinky and the Brain. I'm surprised Gargoyles is so high on the list. Thought it was disliked. I certainly disliked it.
  16. IMDB seems like the only place to have it as just New Nightmare. Rotten Tomatoes, Wikipedia, Amazon etc. all have it as Wes Craven's New Nightmare, and I have to say that's the title that I know it as. I think it should be up to the individual. It's hardly going to be picked much.
  17. Yeah, I don't hold it against you, there are many great films beginning with D.

  19. 1. Five. 2. Single vote. 3. Tons of horror movies have been made this year. Horror and documentaries should be included.
