  1. I have a family member that's pretty much like that. She says she liked her in the HG days because she reminded her of a traditional actress who knew her place, but now sees her as another part of "Hollyweird" ever since she opened her mouth about Trump and politics in general.
  2. I never really saw the appeal of Sam Worthington in the first place. He's good enough to barely carry the male action hero role, but he offers absolutely nothing beyond that. T4 and Clash were so middle of the road, and his dry performance only hampered them more. He got extremely lucky with Avatar, in that the film didn't have to rely on him at all to sell itself.
  3. Despite that horrid trailer in front of IT, I'm still curious and might check it out, especially for the third act.
  4. The movie being great is helping it, but if August had much stronger films and the competition that would come along with that, IT would probably be doing $80-85M OW.
  5. I really think the drought of movies the past month or so is the sole contributor to this. People are ready for a hyped movie that is actually good.
  6. What if this actually somehow pulls off a 100M OW? I don't see it happening no matter how big the hype gets, but that would be amazing for September.
  7. I finally have all five books, so as soon as I finish a few others, I'm going to town on this and then the show. 5000+ pages, here I come.
  8. Seemed like they were trying way too hard to mirror Trump in Frank's recent political endeavors. Not to mention dragging the election out into the middle of the season when it should have ended Season 4. Very disjointed, and I can't see how they can do much more. Just wrap it up in S6 and be done with it.
  9. I think it's a bit surprising in this case because usually August has the last big film or two of the summer, and it's likely no film this month even reaches 100M. For the last big film to be a mid-July release is kinda sad.
  10. There's a decent chance, but Dunkirk still has some steam left. I just don't see it reaching 180M/190M numbers.
  11. It's incredible that no other movie released since Dunkirk will pass it's gross until Thor in November.
  12. It's not really professional for an actress of her stature to be creating witch hunts on social media, even if the people she's targeting actually deserve it.
  13. Still don't know why studios thought Cara would sell that movie. Everyone knows her as a fashion model and nothing else.
  14. He said something along the lines of not feeling sorry for the counter protester who was run over and killed and that she shouldn't have been there in the first place. Also numerous deflections in the form of whataboutism about Antifa and BLM in the face of this tragedy. Overall, he didn't explicitly say that he supported the nazis, but his dog whistles were so loud, he might as well have come out and just said it.
  15. The Jim Carrey adaptation adjusts to $427M in 2017 dollars. Very doable, although I think the novelty factor was what made that movie so huge.
  16. Even after looking it up, I still don't quite understand what Ninjago even is. Definitely not a property I've ever heard of before, and most of the general audience, by extension. Risky choice, especially releasing so soon after TLBM.
  17. Here's the estimated ticket sales for POTC. Interesting stuff. POTC1: 50,648,900 POTC2: 64,628,400 POTC3: 44,973,900 POTC4: 29,927,500 POTC5: 19,151,300 Very similar drops to what TF had, although I think there's enough steam left for one more film unlike Bay's franchise. Also, I wish ticket sales were the standard metric instead of dollars. It makes analyzing the headcount of these franchises so much easier. No inflation or exchange rates to muddy the data when it's a solid number. What you see is what you get.
  18. I hope Dunkirk can eek out a third weekend at #1. As long as TDT drops hard after Friday, it should be enough.
  19. Looking at the estimated ticket sales for this franchise, this looks really brutal: TF1: 46,402,100 TF2: 53,900,900 TF3: 44,260,900 TF4: 30,375,600 TF5: 14,416,900
  20. Bay really should come back to this. TF is done and all of his lower budget projects (Pain & Gain, 13 Hours) didn't blow away the box office. It's his only other franchise.
  21. I'm still mad about the first one getting snuffed in favor of the Golden Compass. Someone was smoking something that day.
