  1. Does anyone think this will cause a racial controversy among a portion of the movie going audience with accusations of race baiting like Get Out did, or will it be more toned down? I'm not seeing a lot talk either way, but when I saw the trailer in front of Dunkirk, the audience (mostly older white men) was very quiet with a few low murmurs. That's not much to go off of, but I got the impression that they were easily turned off by it, especially when you factor in the prominence of BLM and the political climate we're in. I imagine many will feel that it's shoving racial politics down their throat, even though it's based on historical events. Just a thought I had.
  2. I wish the writers would have put the time in to connect these things together. Every film ends up with them rewriting the mythos.
  3. POTC5 is having amazing late legs at this stage. It might be able to crawl it's way to a $175M finish at the end. It especially looks good in regards to TF5's performance thus far.
  4. Kong is also the first film in a new franchise, whereas TF is now on the fifth film and is dropping like a rock compared to the previous two.
  5. I knew this was going to drop, but HOLY SHIT!! It's gonna barely limp across 100M at this point.
  6. After last knight's viewing (pun intended), here's my current ranking of Bayformers: TF1 TF3 TF5 TF4 TF2
  7. I think the studios know it's critic proof to an extent, but they may be trying to play it safe regardless.
  8. I have a feeling Bay will be back for a sixth. He's been doing this song and dance since the third movie. He makes too much money from this to stop completely. As long as it does well overall, the $ will be too much to pass up.
  9. Pirates actually had the best drop among the Top 10. Not that it really helps at this point, but it might show some legs late in the game. It also finally hit 150M.
  10. Agreed. Also, the fact that it has zero competition for a week and a half before DM3, and then another week before it has true competition (SM:H). That tracking might be the absolute minimum it will make, but as you said, this is a walk up franchise. Also, I just don't want this to do worse than POTC5. That'd be tragic.
  11. Yep. I think TF5 will prove that this series has a floor somewhere between 150M-200M at least.
  12. The Matrix Trilogy should be there. They're both transwomen now.
  13. I'm starting to think the same. As good of a parallel as Pirates is, I still see this approaching around 200M. Definitely less than TF4, but way more than POTC5, which is tanking badly.
  14. This thing looks massive. They really should have brought Shia back into the fold for a finale.
  15. I thought everyone had WW tracking above $40M+ OD. Not bad, but a little lower than everyone was expecting. Also, Pirates is sinking horribly. I don't see it crossing $150M at this point.
  16. What's the point of even bringing him back? He died and Will took over the Dutchman. What more could they possibly do with him?
  17. I really want to get into this game, but it looks like Year 10 has been in discussion for a few years now. Is the game still active?
  18. That's disappointing. I was really excited for a 3 hour finale.
  19. Along with the reported runtime, this allegedly has a budget of $260M+. I think Bay is really treating this as his final entry and is literally going all out. I can't wait.
  20. People didn't watch the movies initially because of Shia, but audiences grew to love him. His departure didn't stop me from seeing AOE, but I imagine it lowered the general interest in the film for a lot of people. Not to mention franchise fatigue as well.
