  1. True, but with this, it's right there in your face. That might turn off some of the more conservative audience members out there.
  2. This movie feels really "late". I remember my best friend in elementary school reading these fifteen years ago. I had completely forgotten about it's existence until these past few weeks. Also, some parents might be turned off by the potty humor, so it won't have the family friendly legs that most animated films seem to have.
  3. My gf at the time saw the 3D edition with me and we both bawled our eyes out at the end. It's definitely more powerful in a cinematic setting.
  4. Is this Johnny Depp's final outing as Sparrow? The trailers seem to imply that, but I could see Depp holding on to this franchise due to it being his only marketable venture these days.
  5. Hoping Covenant is slightly overestimated and Guardians takes the crown a third time.
  6. The main problem that Avatar has compared to those is that it's still only one film at this point. Also, a lot of the reason people liked it was the 3D novelty as well as the graphics, a sentiment many people I know sadly share. Unless the technology is significantly upped for these sequels, I don't see a huge turnout.
  7. I don't think this will drop too terribly. Despite the decline of this franchise, I think there's still a floor for these. Somewhere between 200M and TF4's 245M is where I see it landing, although 180-190M isn't completely out of the question, either.
  8. Although interest is still there somewhat, how much damage will the 11 year wait do? I was 17 and a junior in high school when this came out, and when this eventually comes out, it will have been nearly five years since I graduated college. Aside from Star Wars, what other franchise can withstand such a long time gap with general audiences?
  9. With this insane bump in video sales, mostly due to the Trump effect, who else thinks it could have made a killing at the BO had it released closer to the election in August/September? Of course, a lot of people would see that it was pandering for the election effect, something Bay didn't want to associate with the film, but it still would've been interesting to see.
  10. Pirates will also have a six year gap between films versus TF's three years. Plus robots sell more tickets than pirates.
  11. The $30 mil budget is what's surprising to me. Have animation costs really gone down that much, or is it just good management? Either way, after the budget fiasco of GB, Sony could use a breakout hit that's cheap.
  12. Most forced franchise ever. Incredibles deserved to be a trilogy way before Cars.
  13. Apples to Oranges comparison. Toy Story is a much higher regarded series with a decade of pent up demand that translated into it's box office haul. TS also debuted when 3d animation was in it's infancy. There was barely any competition in that regard. HTTYD doesn't even have half of that demand. It's likability is up there with TS, but that didn't stop HTTYD2 from declining domestically. As I mentioned above, 3d animation is so commonplace, it's not special anymore. What worked for TS3 isn't going to work with HTTYD3. Sequels need to release more often these days for a series to stay relevant.
  14. What's with the long delays between these films? The three years between each Shrek was pushing it, but four ways is way too long for audiences to wait.
  15. I don't know why, but I still get excited for these every time one of them comes out.
  16. Good trailer, although after eight years, this feels way too late. Not to mention that Cloverfield was never a huge movie in the first place.
  17. Damn. 13 Hours is doing way worse than I thought it would. You'd think with all the political polarization of that event, that a significant portion of American movie-goers would be flocking to it.
  18. There's not much to speculate on until Cameron can pull his head out of his ass and settle on a release date.
