  1. Honestly, Bay could leave the action the way it is and just cut out the elementary humor, and his RT scores would easily shoot up 20-30%.
  2. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2016/01/05/michael-bay-direct-his-final-transformers-film/78287048/ He seems serious about this being his last TF movie, but we all know the narrative at this point.
  3. It makes me sad that we'll probably never see a run like this again. I was only five when it came out, so I never got to experience this.
  4. Truth. In an age where a lot of directors don't even want to finish out a trilogy (Whedon, Abrams, etc), Bay is still going at it with TF. Although I wonder if the reason for still doing these lies in the fact that Bay doesn't have anything outside of TF that can even make a fraction of it's money. His highest grossing non-TF movie is Armageddon, which barely cracked 200M eighteen years ago. Impressive, but nowhere near the kind of paycheck that Optimus Prime can give him.
  5. This might be the only problem Paramount will be facing. As much as Bey has his image stamped all over this franchise, we can't deny that if TF5 isn't at least an improvement over 4, then it may even struggle to hit 200M. Worldwide, though, it will continue to dominate.
  6. I think he'll do TF6 as well. He's gotta at least close out this new trilogy before handing the reigns to someone else.
  7. I knew this was going to happen. The $$$ is simply too good to pass up.
  8. I'm sure he will, but he was such a bland and uninteresting actor in the first place, replacing him probably wouldn't affect much.
  9. How is a movie that just grossed 88M in it's third weekend "over?"
  10. The movie was only good enough to see once for me, but I'm glad it's getting good business. Off topic, but is anyone else having the problem of only being able to view one page in a given thread, and accessing any other page gives you a blank page? It's really irritating and hindering my enjoyment of this site.
  11. Avatar - 3 times. First with a group of friends opening day, second with my uncle, and third with my mother and grandma. You could tell the hype was real at the time, because my entire family was dead set against seeing it until they caved in when all of their friends and work buddies kept recommending it.
  12. No doubt this will be big when it releases, but the wait is definitely going to hurt it's BO performance. There's just no way around that at this point. It will be 8+ years by the time this thing ever reaches the screens, and since Avatar doesn't have the brand name recognition that SW or even Jurassic Park/World has, it's going to underperform in comparison. That being said, I still see this doing between 400M-600M domestic. Good enough for a near-decade awaited sequel, and possibly even better for the third and fourth films if this one knocks it out of the park critically, which Cameron's track record with sequels proves. Those could easily increase if this pans out well.
  13. I honestly don't get why Bay and Wahlberg don't want to return. I thought AOE was supposed to be the start of a new TF trilogy, so it would make sense for the two to stick around for two more films. Otherwise, what was the point of introducing Mark's character and setting up a new storyline if the director and main actor leave?
  14. It's only been out one day, and they're already advertising the home video release?
  15. Just got back from the 9 PM 3D showing. Despite all the negative reviews, I absolutely loved this one and it's tied with TF3 as being my second favorite in the series, behind TF1. I actually thought this one was a lot more reserved than TF2 and TF3 in terms of setting up the characters before launching into the action, as we get about twenty minutes of seeing Wahlberg's character go through his daily routine. As for the rest of the movie, it's what you would expect from a Bayformers movie, and that's fine by me. The action was the best I've seen in the series so far, and the 3D actually looked damn good, especially during the final battle with shards and fragments of metal flying across my vision. I know it's a Michael Bay film and it's not cool to like his movies, but he kept me entertained for three hours, so I applaud him for that, although he could have trimmed the length down by about thirty minutes.
  16. I remember watching the trailer to that and wondering if it really was the director himself.
  17. As bad as TF2? That kind of worries me a bit. I'll still go into the theater with high hopes, though. Also, did Bay tone down the dumb humor or was it constant/more of the same?
  18. How would you rank it in comparison to the other three TF's?
  19. Well, T1 only grossed 38M. It certainly wasn't a huge film when it came out, therefore there wasn't much for the audience to forget. The franchise wasn't going anywhere but up, especially considering that T2 was a masterpiece of a sequel.
  20. I'm not seeing your point here. The 12 year gap is irrelevant because Titanic and Avatar are too completely different films. The only similarity between the two is that they were both growers when it came to the audience turnout. However, 7 years WILL hurt this film, as much as I don't want it to. People outside of forums generally tend to forget about film franchises or lose excitement about the next sequel if they take 5+ years to come out.
  21. Does anyone else think the 7 year gap between the first film and this will hurt it's chances at the box office?
  22. Even when you factor in Blu-Ray for TF3, it's total sales are still lower than the first week of DVD sales for TF2. Weak Sauce!
