  1. I don't know, I ended up having several hundred questions by the end because of all the stupid decisions the characters make (including: why do the killers spend a whole purge terrorizing this one family when they could be killing several hobos? Why does the family keep splitting up? Why does the son let that bloody homeless dude into the house, or better yet, why does he even know the password to unlock the security system? Was this his first purge? In fact, what is the point of the purge when unemployment is like 1%, when most crime is brought on by poverty and not because everyone has a crazy killer holed up inside of them that needs to be released once a year?). Maybe this new movie answers those questions, but I can't muster up any reason to care.
  2. LOL I can't believe that this is looking to come reasonably close to the first movie despite that film's terrible reception. I got dragged to it last year and almost emerged from the theater 85 minutes later as a human vegetable from enduring so much idiocy.
  3. Is that really saying much considering what else is coming out this week lol? Even though Sex Tape had potential.
  4. I saw it, too. Didn't hate it as much as he did, but it's very pedestrian and forgettable.
  5. Yeah, it is. I said this in another thread, but it's a true testament to Melissa McCarthy's now undeniable drawing power that this movie is headed for about $90-95M. It would've tanked without her.
  6. Yeah, The Purge was not well-received and had really atrocious legs, but it's not like it was The Devil Inside (where there were widespread reports of audiences booing it off the screen). This sequel will probably do something like $20M/$40M and not drop off too much, since it's not rehashing the premise of the previous movie.
  7. The 5 minute Dinosaur trailer that ran before every copy of Toy Story 2 that consisted of the entire opening scene of the movie. It was absolutely stunning and hinted at a truly remarkable movie unlike anything we've seen before at the time. The movie, while not terrible, didn't come close to living up to it outside of the visuals.
  8. It's amazing just how well this holds up a decade later. "I'm gonna vote for Regina George because she got hit by a bus." "I'm voting for Cady Heron because she pushed her."
  9. The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are the best movies he's ever made. As far as his comedies go, I'll always hold a soft spot for Liar Liar and Dumb & Dumber. His best performance, though, is definitely Andy Kaufman. He...nailed him in every single way.
  10. I'm praying so hard for Magic in the Moonlight to be good.
  11. They're probably keeping it in theaters because it's on the schedules for most, if not all, of these summer movie kids camp things that start at 10 in the morning during the week. Same applies to the other movies that are a part of it that are still in theaters.
  12. I just read the "I Dreamed a Dream" parody and nearly spat my morning coffee all over the screen. This is amazing.
  13. Fantastic Beasts, even if everything goes right for it, will never overcome the stigma of being a Harry Potter movie without Harry Potter.
  14. I love how the poster for The Purge: Anarchy mostly consists of a big tagline that says "United We Purge." Once a day every morning, yes, we are.
  15. LOL once again with the "Tele is old" jokes. Move on and come up with fresher material, please.
  16. What the hell this thread was something like 56-57 pages when I was last online over 3 hours ago. Sum up what's happened quickly so I don't have to waste my time.
