    Actually, piracy is one of the reasons GoT gets the audiences it gets today. Even one of the HBO spokesmen aknowledged it. I know people that paid more money just to get HBO because they wanted an authentic GoT viewing after pirating the first seasons.

    We don't even get HBO in our pack of TV programs. Piracy is more than welcome and legal (since there's no law here to incriminate it yet).

    But other markets will likely decrease because of the Exchange Rate. The ER problem was mitigated by FF7 by selling an enormous amount of tickets. Considering these ER it's likely F7 will sell roughly the same amount of tickets WW as the first Avengers did.

    Yeah, AoU will increase the same as FF7 because.... because what? There is no correlation between these two movies. One had it's protagonist dying.The other has nothing of sorts. Actually, it'll have decreasing 3D rates and no novelty element to it that was the main reason it made money in the first place. In the end, FF7 will sell more tickets than AoU anyway.

    No. I meant they both opened both DOM and OS on the same weekend and in most of the world, with the mention that while FF7 added 68.5M this weekend from China to bring it's WW gross relatively close to DH2 through the same point, DH2 still hadn't hit China at that time. In exchange it got Japan, which FF7 still has to open in. They are both released in pretty much all OS territories while entering their second week so the comparison can be made.

    They both opened DOM and OS on the same weekend, so I am counting their grosses through their second weekend. Now I know for example that some OS markets start their weekend on Wednesday or Thursday, but that's impossible to follow.

    It's not doing HP8 numbers, that's my point. The only reason it got even close is because they added almost 70M from China this weekend and opened in all OS territories , except for Japan. As for the 2D thing, most OS markets, China included, actually got it in 3D. And where did I say it is not impressive?! ? I am one of the biggest supporters of this movie. Why would I be mad? But BO accuracy is BO accuracy.

    I'm actually starting to think it's a marketing strategy. The episodes were soooo good. Also, they have made major changes from the books.

    Well, DH2 was at 832M through the same point (and without China) and the OS Fast numbers will very likely fall a bit with actuals (as many people in the foreign threads and especially the China thread have mentioned), so it's not THAT impossibly impressive. But yeah, it is a beast!

    Creative edges will get dulled? That is like assuming DOM audiences are smarter than any others or that movies are specifically made for the DOM market and many movies today are clearly not meant for that.

    I happen to like this new era where OS numbers are getting more attention than the domestic ones. The US has a certain taste in some movies I don't agree with.

    Yeah, I actually do understand what groundbreaking means and that whole series was groundbreaking for it's genre and the movies that came after it. But there's no point in arguing with you. You have your opinions (as wrong as they are), I have mine and this is not the place to debate this.

    It's the final movie in a series that defined an entire generation and probably one of the biggest media phenomenons ever? Which is much more than other popcorn movies that are forgotten a few months after release.

    Hahahaha, if this beats TA2 OS I'll die with happiness and as of now there's a really good chance it does.
