I felt good about my predicts through the initial estimates on Friday, but it was all downhill from there.

This weekend really did not turn out the way I expected. I'm going to get slaughtered in the Derby. Also, Sorry to Bother You... Huh. It seems pretty clear where they were going with it, and after you get over the "WTF?!" the message of the second half really does kinda keep going in the same direction as the first. I feel like they decided to make their point in a way that guaranteed it would be memorable and discussed, and they were willing to ditch just about everything from the first half to get there. Lakeith Stanfield and Armie Hammer were both great.

Yeah, my "mostly" appellation is largely that I think Ant-Man will do better than 185m. On the other hand, I don't think it will catch Solo, and I think it will be surpassed by MI, so its a quibble.

I mostly agree. I think Book Club is going to be the surprise, as its going to be tough for enough new movies to pass it for it to fall out of the top 15. As always, 14/15 are a mess though those slots are currently looking even worse than usual. With 55-60M as the threshold, there's not only room for a dark horse like Teen Titans or The Meg to end up in the top 15, but also a *genuine* surprise like Alpha to sneak in.

I lost, as expected, but I'm pleasantly surprised the loss was at least a close one.

Yeah. People liked the movie and were into it, but when the "dusting" happened, the audience went nuts. The theater was instantly filled with a mix of screams of anguish (a lot of people really love Hope, and there's no question she was way more badass than Scott in this one) and people shouting "OH, SHIT!".

I'd only quibble by making it plural. Its about two fathers and two daughters. "Could you stop daydreaming about my daughter and go do this?" Hah.
