  1. Don't know enough about comics to start fan casting characters but I do have a question. Are main cast actors in these kinds of movies technically allowed to be in "rival" brands? is there like a "no competition" thing in their marvel contract? Anyone know? @Barnack Not that Bautista wants to keep his marvel contract but just wondering. I hope James gunns brother has an accident just before #theSquad begins shooting, because he really can't act. Rooker and Bautista are good to join though.
  2. Oh yeah, I remember after the film hearing it is a sequel and meant to look it up. Had forgotten that. Not on Amazon or Netflix so i won't see it any time soon.
  3. I guess the closest thing would be if one of Christopher Nolan's original films ever breaks out like that. Other than that, as said above, most studios are not making the kind of mega-budget original films like that any more. Sure a few times a year we get original tentpole films but they're never on the same level.
  4. To quote Optimus Prime: "We are here. We are waiting."
  5. what? No, it's all Bryan's doing! all those times he was late to set, frustrating the crew and no doubt the actors... that frustration is what RamiMalek was able to turn in such a magnificent star performance. Bryan Singer ran the production into the ground, and the result of that that we saw, was a rubbish film - and because it was a rubbish film, that is why global audiences ate it up. He deserves all the credit for making such a profitable movie.
  6. /wave I didn't like the film either. "just not your type of movie" - ya know its possible someone might just have a different opinion from you.
  7. that seems like quite a long production, 4 months - assuming the budget is really not much differnt from the main movies then, that's longer than F8. Also really hope vanessa kirby & dwayne johnson is not a romantic thing. hoping in 2019 it wouldn't be.
  8. to all the haters: he deserves every penny of it.
  9. No. Not yikes. It's a viable way of releasing films. Small studios are trying this out with films they don't believe need to be exclusive in cinemas I.e. ones that won't sell tickets. Commercial appeal got nothing to do with quality. Cold War for example was day and date and that has just been nominated this week for an Oscar for best foreign film. Also I'll be happy to bet my left nut that in say 25 years time your way of thinking will be ancient. And all the biggest films will release on demand the same day they come in theaters. You'll have the choice on the opening night of Avengers 17 to stream it on your TV, or to go out and watch it on a dedicated big screen/IMAX etc Get ready to watch the landscape change.

  11. as for other delayed American films: - I didn't like fish erotica - all the money in the world didn't do it for me - Molly's Game was insufferable - The Post? pfft. - Darkest Hour, nah I did however, really really enjoy Last Flag Flying. Because of course I did because it's a Richard Linklater film and I'm yet to dislike a film he's made. his style of just relaxed sunday afternoon movie watching just does it for me. (incidentally this was on a Sunday afternoon i believe. the only (1, single) showtime that ever came near where i live.) Great light-hearted road movie with some somber moments which work well. There was also a Q&A live stream with Bryan Cranston after the movie and he was very charming. I didnt know anything about it going in, didn't know the synopsis, genre or anything. Nice surprise. well not really a surprise but it was nice. - The other one I rather enjoyed was I, Tonya Margot proves she is a lot more than a pretty face. This is a really fun biopic about someone I wasn't familiar with, and margot robbie really gets her claws into the character. good soundtrack too.
  12. oh cool. I dont remember though no doubt I'm sure i voted for it. Thanks jake. it's still the most epic run of 2018 calendar year, i am not incorrect
  13. So, start off the year, as usual with the delayed awards films, which mostly get released in Jan-Feb. DELAYED BY MONTHS EVERY SINGLE YEAR HOW COME, HOLLYWOOD? the highlight of these was the excellent Three Billboards! as a big fan of Martin McDonagh's previous films, I saw it the first chance I could. And was blown away. This movie is jet black comedy - there are several moments when I was laughing away and then BAM, while I'm laughing I suddenly feel awful and upset. anchored by many strong performances from the whole cast, this is just terrific and really probably my fave film of 2018. after I saw it, I took my parents to see it and they loved it just as much. the week after, I took my godfather to see it. i just wanted to share this film with as many people as possible because i think it is so good. I also like how clearly its resonated with so many people - just google image search "three billboards billboards" and you can find dozens of real-life protest billboards inspired by this film.
  14. Since I had my uh, "vacation" from the forums for the second half of 2018, this is you guys chance to catch up on all my bad takes! this will be pretty straightforward, i'm just gonna run through the year and give shout outs to the highlights of my year in cinema. 2018 let's go!
  15. its kinda useless me even saying this as no one is going to nominate it because its not a "2018 movie", but the most epic box office performance of the year was Greatest Showman. without a shadow of a doubt.
  16. oh ok. thanks. well 5 is better way to do it so I'm not adding to what ive sent in, but i stand corrected.
  17. I'm sad I missed this film, I originally wanted to see it from the first trailer (and just the synopsis / subject in general). Then when the second trailer came out with that awful early 2000s trailer voiceover, that said to me it was going to be terrible so avoid. So I did, and it left cinemas.
  18. just nominate every character from Buster Scruggs for every award, that makes it a lot simpler. including Buster Scruggs as best hero, obvs.
