  1. #20 174 POINTS "He's going to be very popular." Released: 1974 Director: Mel Brooks It's Mel Brooks again, this time with one of the most quotable comedies arguably ever. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN sinks its teeth into spot #20.
  2. 21. 170 POINTS "For a gallon of elderberry wine, I take one teaspoon full of arsenic, then add half a teaspoon full of strychnine, and then just a pinch of cyanide." Released: 1944 Director: Frank Capra Looks like our list has been poisoned! (With dark humour.) ARSENIC AND OLD LACE creeps up to rank #21.
  3. I do agree the list feels pretty random, although I guess you could say the same for a lot of lists. It ain't gonna get any easier to predict though - from Mean Girls, let's go back 70 years....
  4. Actually, the top three movies on this list are Beverly Hills Cop 3, Beverly Hills Cop 2, and Beverly Hills Cop 1. Hope that clears things up.
  5. I didn't think it was graphic or gruesome at all, in fact other than a couple of moments on the highway scene, and some of the scene with the experiment, I can't recall any other blood or anything. I don't think the film is outrageous, rude, offensive or anything else that people seem to be suggesting.
  6. Of the main characters, Tom Hiddleston is just about the only one who gives a good performance.
  7. 22. 167 POINTS "That is SO fetch!" Released: 2004 Director: Mark Waters Undeniably one of the defining comedies of the last 15 years, and endlessly quotable, the ultimate chick flick MEAN GIRLS struts into the list at #22.
  8. 23. 155 POINTS "Where da white women at?" Released: 1974 Director: Mel Brooks And now a step back in time. Westerns may not be thriving right now, but 40 years ago they were all the rage. This comedy-western was a smash hit back then, and now BLAZING SADDLES gallops into the list at #23.
  9. 24. 151 POINTS "My buns have no seeds." Released: 1988 Director: John Landis Comedy kings John Landis and Eddie Murphy return to our list, this time seeking perfection. And they might just have found it - COMING TO AMERICA moves to #24 on the list.
  10. Makes sense, honestly. The people watching Deadpool are probably going to be watching all those superhero movies anyway, they don't need to be marketed to. Whereas if you take an unknown film and show it to a huge audience, it might have increased ticket sales when it releases.
  11. I know this is a few days late, but I just wanna flag this up to you for future reference, about the Cambridge Vue. (I live in Cambridge) Due to the low attendance that Vue Cambridge gets, they recently upgraded all their seats to huge leather VIP recliners with tons of space, as a result their number of seats in each screen decreased by ~70%. Vast majority of shows, for every single film, sell out as a result of only having 40 seats in each screen. I don't know how many other sites Vue has done this to, but a sellout at Vue Cambridge means nothing since they got rid of most of their seats. Their screen plans now look like this: 6 of their 8 screens have exactly that layout, each with 40 seats. The other two screens are bigger but still have a very small number of seats compared to most big screens. (96 and 127 seats, respectively) Needless to say, they have tons and tons of sellouts. I remember trying to book a ticket for In the Heart of the Sea two weeks after release, and every show was sold out. lol The business strategy was basically to take huge losses on major, popular films, while making smaller films, and late shows, more popular. I really doubt it makes them an increased profit but it is a strategy Vue is experimenting with at one of its lowest-performing (therefore lowest-risk) sites. So when you see two dozen sellouts at that site, take it with a pinch of salt. Just thought I should let you know for your tracking.
  12. I'm so forgetful lol. I start something then forget it's there. Then I do like 3 days work with no leisure time and then it's completely gone from my head.
  13. 25. 142 POINTS "Take car, go to Mum's, kill Phil, grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over." Released: 2004 Director: Edgar Wright Edgar Wright haz already cropped up a couple of timez on this lizt, and it's no zurprize to z that hiz funniest film is thiz. The bloody, zweet and thoroughly Britizh SHAUN OF THE DEAD dragz itz rotten feet into rank #25.
  14. Why would it move due to that movie? It's coming out on a different weekend, they are aimed at different audiences, and I don't see any real evidence to suggest that Cloverfield 2 is going to be some smash hit success.
  15. Didn't know anything about this film until I saw a trailer before a film last week, and now really looking forward to this, it comes to cinemas here on Friday.
  16. literally so excited to see the disappointment from everybody once it releases, when they realise it has nothing to do with the first film. In that respect, it's probably like #3 film I'm most looking forward to this year...
  17. But this is China we're talking about, not the US. Re-releases will always exist. They don't usually make tons of money, but they're a neat little way of reinvigorating interest in an older franchise.
  18. How is 230M worldwide "highly implausible"? You know Genisys did 113M in China right? The Titanic 3D release did like 150M in China... not based on a predecessor. 230M worldwide for Terminator is perfectly possible - assuming it's a full wide release etc.
  19. You think general audiences are having their mind blown by box office numbers? Lmao. And they don't care about the budget either. At best, they read some headlines about it being "biggest film ever". They really have no knowledge or interest, that is why they're called the GENERAL AUDIENCE.
  20. How is it locked to do 775M? Especially when GotG had 96.5M from China. Jesus, people are taking crazy pills.
